i like the details soo Much man  … really great WIP :applause:

Enjoy Making it

#25

very nice attention to detail and the textures look great, one question for the scene are you going for a stylized look or realistic?

#26

Wow, that’s great dude! You are keeping the level pretty high
But there are some questions I have:

  1. How much is there procedural ? Especially on the surface of the board I wonder if it’s just a huge texture or if you mixed it with a procedural material.
  2. Which renderer is it, you are using ?

#27

Insane details! Can’t wait for the character.
To add to gamePats question, what renderer are you using?

#28

guitarmunkee Hi there, thanks for the compliments, The renderer is as said, good old mental ray. It’s versatile, proven and the results can be fantastic. Time is needed to optimze my render times now, for animation.

gamePat Hi pat, really glad you like the work so far. The board itself is a mix between a lower res map for the dirt, and a procedural shader for the bumps, so close ups are possible. The board itself, on the graphic size is a mix of painted maps, overlays for dirt and scratches, and maps also painted for spec and reflection.

The rendered, is good old mental ray.

younglion Cheers, I’m going with a realisitc look for the final image, Somewhat akin to an action shot in a film.

silvercoin Thanks silvercoin, I am having a lot of fun making it, and XSI is fantastic to use too.

LiQuiD12 Thanks. The finished piece should be completed soon.

I can’t believe how I didn’t see this coming. Your level of detail with the model alone was crazy. Great job making it real. Can’t wait to see how crazy you get with this animation.

#30

well you know how I feel about your work. Good job

#31

Fantastic work, I cannot wait to see more…

#32

hey joseph!

#33

Great work on the details and textures, looks spot on. Makes me want to create a 3d version of myself since I think its a close as i’ll get to skating with the great british weather as it is.

Keep up the great work and look forward to more updates.

#34

leonlabyk Oh really? Well its certainly a good idea to make a 3d version of yourself. I look forward to animating this once it’s finished. Unfortunately your right the British weather is not really conducive to a good skate. But i’m still managing to get some in. Where are you from?

rasmusW Hiya rasmus , how’s it going? Character work won’t come for 3 weeks now, (see below), but expect a nice big update then.

bbob Great, thanks bbob! here’s some more!

karabo Thanks Karabo  . Cheers for the support

DigitalBlaspheme Thanks!, I’m glad you think it’s looking real. The animation will be fun to do also. The skater model and setup is first though.

Guys,
I’m getting married in 5 days!, So I won’t be around after that as much, for a few days at least :).

After that i’m off on my honeymoon for 3 weeks. So i’ll be semi-inactive during that time. Then right back onto the project.

In the meantime,
2 new images.

#35

Really great, the textures are very realistic.

#36

Damm that looks close to a photo. Looking forward to seeing how the character and animation turns out as you are obviously going for a nuts standard.
In answer to your ? from a town called Hastings down on the south coast. Like most places in the U.K its great when the suns shining but not so great when its off hiding.

Keep up the great work + congrats and enjoy the break.

#37

Pfiouuu that’s so realistic. And the mod is very precise with a lot of details, it’s great.

Isn’t the side of the board too much glossy ? I’m waiting for the next screens.

And congrats to you and your future wife !

#38

Love the textures! Great work.

#39

very nice details!

some crits though coming from me(a skater) the concave in the board is extremely off. the wheels should be worn down on the outside not the inside. if the tail or nose is going to be scratched then the sides are going to messed up as well(too much gloss on sides) usually when i get a new board the sides are at the top of the first things to get messed up unless your doing slide tricks of course

other that the rest is just amazing!
i like how you even made all the pieces of the bearings.
keep it up

#40

Thank you everyone for your kind comments, crits and support.
I finished the model, and put it up on turbosquid for sale, along with a couple of other model bank sites. Part of my new business.

Thanks.

Looks amazing are you going to get some animation for this. this reminds me of an animation I saw a wile back of a dude on a board with a wicked rig and the render was at this level. top notch.
