The initial sketch was a doodle in my tribal dress and society class last week. we were learning about chinese imperial robes. so this came about. painted this yesterday.

I also posted this in the conceptart forums, for anyone who visits there. just wanted to see what people here would say about this? hope thats ok…

Nice work Don! i really like the colors and character design. You added more yellow highlights to the skin since i first seen it didn’t you? it totally helped give the character more dimension. Keep it up buddy, your work gets stronger every time i see it!!:slight_smile:

Whow!that’s great! I find that it is a good work, guy! I find that the collar of its clothing perhaps too is tightening. the bottom of the handles should be a little circular
besides, I find the ambiance brilliant and the colors too.

animatress, tekila - thanks, ive been really messin with color a lot recently trying to get comfortable with it. so far so good. is the collar to tight? hmm. i thought those kind of robes in the collar area looked tight, so thats just how i did it. thanks!:thumbsup:

oh! … very good! … i like colors and character … almost nothing to critise … only blue flames … i really don’t like it

it’s not about the color of flames … it is about flames generally … i don’t like them … :hmm:
