Character (Fish) : Guppy

#1

this painting is about fish that i see most in my childhood. i just draw what i remember bout this fish. no reference. so there r may be some parts that different from the original Guppy fish.

but hope u all like it

This is a quick mouse painting, done in nearly 2 hours. Done in photoshop.

c&c r welcome.

looks nice…almost very nice but plz do something with thy sky…or that thing above the fish

I’m just amazed that you did this with a mouse.

My C&C is simply that you need to buy yourself/ask for a gift of/whatever you need to do to get: a WACOM tablet.
The cheap little ones are $99, and you’ll never find a more important addition to your computer. Period. Get a friggin cheap-ass WACOM (no other brand, please!), and see how your computer-art world is transformed.

Go do that now.

…

Why are you still sitting there? GO!

i like the colors. but it looks a bit fuzzy, especially in the face

the colors in the tail and body are superb… and only done in 2 hours with a mouse… thats fantastic… only thing is the clouds dont look that nice…

wow.
thank you whitebug, digital_bobert, William b. Hand, Fantom for all your comments.
i really apreciate them
i’ll do my best to get this image looks better.

well, if you dont mind, may i ask some questions?
i’m a bit confuced here. I do thi quick painting to practice painting without reference, cos i heard that full draw from an reference picture dont really have “bright” future. Is that rite?
Do i really have to do without reference? cos i used to draw potrait ( no comercial purposes ).
i want to hear from u guys with more skills n experienced in art n design. plss

well, for tablet… i’ll get it soon. after i get my Video card.
I never draw for comercial use, so its quite hard for me to make money in my age.

hey 5awamura…
how old you by the way?
IMO i think its up to you to choose how you like to paint…
sometimes you want to paint something to make it look better… or probably try your style… your technique of quick painting is really good… your very talented… the most important thing is to enjoy what your doing…

You learn so much from SEEING, whether it be from life, or imagination, or a photograph, and you may come up with very different results… but, if you are thoughtful about it, NO METHOD OF REFERENCE OR INSPIRATION IS INHERENTLY BAD! Any method you use might - by itself - be limited in what you can learn from it, but none are bad. Just pay attention, and you will notice if you are using something as a crutch or if you are no longer really being helped by it, and then you can do something else, use another method.

Trust your own experience. Learn from what you can. If someone says: don’t use photos, ever… don’t look at comic books… don’t use the computer to paint… They are only putting up walls. Perhaps they have wisdom about other ways of learning that you can benefit from, but do not let them keep you from finding your own artistic path. They cannot know your destination in art anymore than they can know your destination in life, and the paths you must take are yours to choose, not theirs.
