Irrational is expanding!

Irrational Games is taking gaming innovation to the next level. We’ve had an outstanding year, and were recently awarded the title of ‘IGN Developer of the Year 2005’. Additionally, at E3 2006, we were awarded “Game of the Show” for Bioshock from IGN, Gamespot and Gamespy.

Based in Canberra, the heart of Australia’s national capital, we are looking for a talented and passionate Concept Artists to join us.

We are currently seeking the talents and creative vision of a senior Creature Concept Artist.

You will have worked in a similar role on a recent game, film or TV show. You should have work that demonstrates an outstanding ability to deliver stylistically and technically excellent creature concepting & character designs that focus on creativity, plausible anatomy and ideas that will work beyond a simple sketch.

You will be able to demonstrate skills from rough staging sketches, to painted reference that our art team can use as a source from which to work. The ability to work to a brief and follow a tight process, without compromising the core ideas, is essential.

Strong technical art skills are highly desired. A good understanding of colour theory, perspective, drafting, lighting etc will be hugely beneficial. Use of industry standard tools, such as Photoshop, is also a requirement.

You must be a superb, pro-active communicator who is happy to take direction and communicate that message clearly to the rest of the art and level construction team.

In return, we can offer you the opportunity to put your skills, vision and experience to the test by working on highly anticipated and exciting projects. This is a rare chance to play a crucial part in developing a AAA title, and to work with some of the best talent in the industry.

Please send your CV and portfolio details to Ali Hinton, Recruitment Manager at ali@irrational.com.au

When applying, you should submit a portfolio that demonstrates your original ideas as both the final result of your work and the methods you used to arrive at it.
