Does anyone know any good character animation books/tutorials? Thanks!
Character animation books/tutorials?
Yup, awesome book, should teach you all the basics, from there it’s all practice.
Also, do a search on this, this question has been asked a ton of times.
True. But the anim-suvival-kit is about traditional animation. The basic.
If this is what your´re looking for, search for a book written by preston blair. Sorry, don´t know the english title.
If you need a book for digital animation I sugest the gnomon DVDs! Or cgacademy

Character animation,be it trad or digital, the principles are identical. The book mentioned is as important to the budding character animator as the bible is to a faithful christian(although only one of these texts is to be believed:twisted:)
CgAcademy have no char anim DvD’s whatsoever and the best Gnomon had on offer seems to have been discontinued for some annoying unknown reason???

George Maestri’s "Character Animation 3’ definetly deserves to be mentioned here. It’s more about theory and practise than step by step things, basically describing what separates good animator from great and why. And since alot of it’s approach is done through exaggerated ‘cartoonish’ form, it brings the point across alot more since it is able to show the subtle details of animation in such illustrative form.
Highly recommended.
“Animals in motion” and “the human figure in motion” from Muybridge are great references for steps in animation
you can find 3d stuff and ebook here
