Yeah that part makes sense…“well hey, on his planet, battle cruisers grow on trees”. I’m just hoping that anything from this earth is game…
Challenge issues resolved in this thread
erilaz: exactly
and cube yes “non-terrestrial” can you imagine the chaos, when peeps are arguing over a non-terrestrial type object, saying it’s “homemade” I don’t need the stress :argh:
Think of things that can exist of this world, Dinos, giants even trolls, elves (think middle earth here) just folk tales even, these are things we’re very familiar with…
Don’t limit your imagination to spaceships, the industry hates them heheh.

Well, if it says “no aliens” you just do no aliens…everything else goes
You can bend the rules as long as you don’t break them.

hey does a creature whos part of the operations of the ship…
not crew member…
not be considerater in the 4 passanger rule?
or…
can the ship be build for 4 pasangers or less but have more on it?
haha…just idle thoughts…
Question:
“Remember that this is a WIP challenge, so it is a requirementto show the steps you used, maps e.t.c , e.t.c and help out as much as you can, of course you’re not obligated to, but it will help those that need it greatly.”
Does this mean we have to have a challenge thread, or just a record of what the process was?
if you don’t have a challenge thread the challenge get’s useless…you can’t win anything, it’s just for fun and to get critics and comments from other people
This may seem an obvious question, but does it have to be in the actual “act of flying” ? Or can it be parked on the ground, with lets say, props around it and people in the process of assembling it? I didn’t see a rule saying it must be flying so can we take liberties here?
0-4 people, including (but not restricted to) cats, cows, kangooroos and ducks. Mice, rats and flees are not considered sizeable enough to take up space. Raccoons are though as well as badgers or any duckbilled mammals.
Chicken and pheasants in cages are considered cargo and can be added. The abovementioned duck as well if in a cage.
I think it’s ok to have the vehicle parked as well as long as it’s recognised as being a flying vehicle even if it’s still being assembled.
Hope that clears it up a bit

My question is…Can there be crew or workers upon the vessel??? My assumptions are that the crew are helping the vessel along, they are not part of the 4. So can I have a crew to help the vessel go…you know more than 10 characters???..Thanks for any help…

As long as the crew is not in the vessel when it takes off…
Any more questions? Bring it on!!
Wiro
PS: feel free to make 10 crewmembers but remember that you should have time to have some sort of flying vehicle within this month too
Thanks very much Wiro…I’ll have to revise my initial thoughts a bit, but should get my plans to work none the less…And yes I’'ll get a flying vessel/contraption to go along with the characters as well…somehow…

So the idea of a ‘Junk yard wars’ thing is ok. eg. Taking a John Deer and kiting it out to fly. I understand it has to look home built, but some of the vehicles made on that show look pretty impressive. So basically, can we put together a piecemeal contraption made up of factory made “parts” but do not come constructed as a whole?
Also what are the rules for the 2d challenge on using 3d renders composited into the image? eg. backgrounds, pyrotechnics etc.
Thx for the info.
Ciao!

Just curious, I am in the process of designing my thingy, and I realize that I have a few areas that will be comprised of glass. Are making objects transparent allowed?? (please, for the love of Kentuky, let transparencies be allowed )
Just curious, thanks
:wavey:
:wavey: So. does this mean my spider as the pilot of an airplane made of maple seed wings and a dandelion fuselage is okay?

umm that’s a bit elaborate, don’t worry yourself over making a full fledge scene, that’s not what we’re after, concentrate at the task at hand, then when that’s done you can go wild on the scene when the challenge is over…
Apt Pupil: of course transparencies are allowed it’s not a texture
just don’t add any reflection maps or something like that, just make it evident it’s glass
zenzmurfy uh yeh :curious: heh

I don’t know yet if I can find the time, but would it be okay to enter with two things?
I thought to start a new thread then and call it
“Above & Beyond - 2D - jeroentje (2nd entrie)”
Would that be okay?
But must finish first one first
jeroentje
In past challenges collaborations were allowed… is that true for this one too?
I don’t have time to enter on my own… but i might re-consider if we can collaborate.
Cheers Lil’D
jeroentje: of course you can, providing you have the time
Krugar: yup yup, for instance one person can model the character and the other the flying machine
have fun, but make sure you put the collaboration text in your thread title, along with the names who you’re collaborating with…
