Please change the Rio team link to this server as soon as possible:
http://www.jushhome.com/pxc/TEAMRIO_FXWARS_960x540_sor3.mov

The codesign server in Germany (and all the sorenson versions) were intended only as a mirror.
This server is about to hit it’s max bandwidth limit for the month in a single day.

We will try to setup another mirror shortly as well.
Thank you.

#3

Here’s another mirror for the same file linked in the voting thread:
http://www.pxc.muc3-austria.com/public/TEAMRIO_FXWARS_960x540_sor3.mov

Thanks.

#4

Thanks again for the help Roberto.
I think it’s OK to leave the voting link as is now if you like.
That server has been reprogrammed to rotate dowloads from our mirrors, so we can even update that script to do some load balancing the downloads even as we add more mirrors.

Again thanks for the support and thanks to the CGTalk community for all the interest.

Hey! I want a chance to join if it’s ok to bail last minute. I really want to try making the short, but i just might not be able to finish for a couple of reasons:

  1. I joined half way into the project (duh)
  2. Though i think i can fix it, my 3ds computer is currently down
  3. I’m a high-school student, so I may not get the time to do it

But please! put me on the list so that I might have a chance to enter!

I just realized-you meant THIS monday right?

Aw %$&! I really read that wrong:banghead:. Sorry for the bad post.

#9

Well here it is!

There’s so much that we could’ve/should’ve/would’ve done…but due to the busyness of our schedules and lack of time to work on it this is what we’ve got to show instead

I’m noticing that the music drowns out the sound effects quite a bit…so I’ll post a music-less version soon.

#10

By the way…thank you Roberto for your patience!

#11

ivanisavich that was awesome! very inspiring
Do you hand-keyframe those camera movements?

#12

ivanisavich, that was not bad at all, very nice quality work, the scale of that clip is amazing, nice work

and damn I’m jelous about that camera work, it’s really amazing and very appropiate, GOOD!

#13

Well I’m glad you guys like it

By the way…just so everyone knows, the clip was created by both me and Danny Robashkin.

I was in charge of:

-helicopter motion animation
-oil rig
-dock and dock breakup/debris
-sound effects (which will be more audible once I upload the music-less version)

Danny was therefore in charge of:

-atmospherics
-water
-extra dock debris particles (any of the smaller ones you see)
-prop boats
-final composite

#14

Woah!!:scream: Amazing job ivanisavich!! Thats was sick!

#15

Fixed the links so that now the “Minn_Freeze.mov” url is the music-less version.

If you want to hear the one with the campy AC/DC track you can find it here:

http://www.theonlyt.com/Main/Animations/Freeze/Minn_Freeze_music.mov :scream:

#16

Firstly, wow again, ivanisavich. Fantastic shots.

Roberto,
In the original rules and discussion there was a lot of emphasis on requiring a live action shot composite, and a a voting category for compositing.
Is there a reason this was left out of the final voting list?

#17

To be honest it was something I missed.

Sorry for that.

Having said that, we have an upcoming challenge that will make
the Blizzard challenge look easy in comparison.

This month we will do Draculas castle and Ill keep the current rules for the challenge since people will have a short amount of time to do it.

#18

wow! that was simply amazing ivanisavich. w.o.w…! that was just insane.
huge props to both of you guys, must’ve worked like crazy…

#19

Mad props to you! Loved it, absolutely amazing!

#20

hmm next challange will be more interesting.but i think time should be less then two months to finish entry.maybe 1 month or less.
then that will be more fun!!
