I most like the secondary movement - the ropes, and the trebuchet spending the last of its energy and momentum swing back and forth ever so slightly. This secondary motion adds so much life to it. Very nice.

Funny to see these Post Supporting Derby-Q With only one post. It’s pretty tight between Cory and Derby.
However…we’ll have to wait to know who the winner is.
Still laughing about those one posts!
Best Simulation: Grau
>> That tower collapses so nice
Best Animation: Derby
>> That humans and the environment make it complete!
Best Overall Entry: _d1

I need to begin practising Reactor when I see this
BTW: what’s wrong in Project KMO’s movie?! I see no catapult…?!
Taken a long time to think about this and I’m going with:
Best Simulation: CORYC
Best Animation: Derby-Q Salano
Best Overall Entry: Derby-Q Salano
Derby-Q Salano nearly had the Best Simulation as well but there was something I really liked about the way CORYC’s Treb reacted.

Thanks Roberto, it was a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to the next one. I’m suprised how well mine came out considering how good Derby’s entry was. One question though. How did he tie himself?
Edit Answered Question on the first post of the thread.
I didn’t want to crowd up this thread during voting so I’ll answer the questions asked now.
Orkman - The rope dynamics were a low-res polychain with clothFX and a hi-res version MetaLinked. All the bouncing is generated in the simulation.
Madcow_0 - There is no way a trebuchet could have done that kind of damage in real life. I tested some more realistic versions but they weren’t all that exciting and since the rules didn’t specify a realistic simulation I went with a more hollywood look. Also, the challenge did include destroying a wall.
Kirt - Same as above.
Akima - My Trebuchet did not have the complexity of Derby’s (which was awesome!) but most of them didn’t. Mine was modeled almost exactly after one built in a town called Visby, which I believe is in Norway.
Crocodilian - I read that wheels improved range too when researching. I thought I would have a hard enough time pulling off a stationary version let alone one with wheels.
Derby - Yours was awesome, especially as fast as you put it together. If you had the full month to work on this, I doubt anyone would have stood a chance.
Thanks to everyone that voted for anyone.
Yeah, congrats to both…
especially my favorite CoryC, who luckily did NOT have to tie himself
