Welcome to ART Fundamentals week at the Daily Sketch forum.
The idea is to go back and practice core skills for one week.

9 POSES: We will be drawing today art poses. the kind of poses you would find in a bar

The rules…

Welcome to the cgtalk sketch group.

We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.

These are the rules:

  • Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
  • 640 x 480 / 480 x 640 OR 800 x 600 /600 x 800
  • They can be done on any medium.
  • If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
  • Only original compositions. No “tributes” or plagiarizing.
  • The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
  • The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
  • Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
  • Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
  • The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
  • Ill post ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.

Good luck

-Roberto

Hello,

It looks very difficult and interesting
Do we have to put 9 different poses on the drawing?

(as a beginner I would like to, but …reality disagrees  )

#3

Roberto, again the links shown link to last tiems links…
BTW… did you get my email from a couple days ago?

Great Topic!.. I’ll probably do a quick one soon!

#4

Dranger – Not sure, but I think you can do quick gesture drawings, silhouettes or whatever you like. We had a similar topic some months ago if you want to check it out:
http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=157495 .

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to “The 9poses” after hours cocktail lounge…

hehehe, kind of a slow day on the DSG eh? Ill color this if i get a chance tonight. Took about an hour so far. pencil on paper. Mine is more of a “Bar” type atmosphere. Not realy high class party place. more like a run down joint with a bunch of regulars.

My poses from left to right are:

1: The singer on the stage
2: The middle age woman siting alone, staring into her drink.
3: The piano Player
4: A drunk leaning on the stage admiring the singer.
5: A man puting on his coat to go home
6: A waitress with a tray of drinks looking at the man at the bar.
7: A man with his head down at the bar covering his face.
8: A man at the end of the bar calling for another drink.
9: The bartender watching the lonely woman in front.

#9

Yes… the DSG does seem slow today.

Nice one CodeNothing! I like the way you have different characters all spread out in the bar.
deaderthanred: I like the bottom right one best! :stuck_out_tongue: But they are all nice.

I’m having serious problems with my wacom. If I trace over a circle drawn on paper, the result on the screen doesn’t create a circle (the start and end are way off). So I can never get the lines to look like I want. If anyone has some advice, I’m all ears.

I was focusing on the poses so please don’t notice the couple shrunk down arms. If I find the time I’ll fix them.

#10

anyone know of a free server I can use to upload my drawings the one I was using is discontinuing its service… thanks!

#11

Hey Ines, Try Photobucket.com

#12

CodeNothing: looking forward to the colored version!
Kvaalen: good take on the 9 poses  as for mine, the one holding huge head is my fav too… cutest of em all
sagi_13: try imageshack (replied on the other thread where you posted too)
honestly i’ve no idea what’s a cocktail bar… most places that serve alcohol around where i stay are danceclubs or dingy pubs lol

#13

I use imageshack, seems to be prity good service. no limits on number of uploads.

#14

Ran outta time so i am 7 people short. Just drew the uptight hot chick and the loser.

40min ps\painter

*deaderthanred your top three poses are pretty nice!

#15

thanks guys I will check those websites now and put up my images

#16

About half hour, ArtRage.

#17

Bout 15 minutes… stopped when I realized how depressing they were. Painter

#18

Deaderthanred- Those poses are so sexy specially the first one.

CodeNothing- That’s the true typical bar, great poses.

Augustus - Very amusing poses, like the movement they show.

:applause: to everyone.

#19

those are awsomely dipressing! :applause:

#20

Here’s my entry, since I’m too slow  I only had time for 2 poses.

Took around 45 min each pose in Open canvas (tha's too fast for me) . It was as well my first attempt to draw figures with my wacom :banghead:.

The waitress looks strange, she’s getting down from the table.
