yay, I murdered the thread

#1963

Well, the kittens are born. They are a week old today.

I promised pictures and here they are.

Here they are at 1 day old. Its cool how instinct works. They immediately went to feed off of mom. She, being raised by us not a cat, immediately knew what to do. I just find that fascinating.

Here is one at 2 days old. In my hand to show relative size. They were about 4in long.

And last, here they are at 1 week old. They had just started opening their eyes. I pulled them out from under the bed where mom had moved them. Momma cats will move their kittens periodically to keep them safe from males that will kill them. Obviosly they are safe but shes going on instinct again. Thats fine I just don’t want them under our bed :D.

Thats all six of them. The 2 tan cats actually look like the Momma cats brother Opie who died from worms when he was little. So we’ve got 2 Opie’s now. The dark one in the front with the brown stripe looks just like Momma. That leaves the 3 calicos that I have no idea where they came from. Must be the daddy, :).

Y’all have a good day.

Awww, How adorable little kittens ^.^

#1965

Nice smiley! hehe. No worries though Val, when the thread is in need of resurrection, we will always have cute kittens!

Edit Btw cool update! Looks great!

#1966

Thank you bim bam
How is your horsie? Have you started on the wizard?

#1967

Ugh, I’ve been mighty busy at work, leaving no time to work on my horsey during my lunchbreak, cause yeah, that’s 10 minutes long at the moment. At home I’ve been working a bit on texturing, but it’s going very slow atm… I’m also trying to get Shave and Haircut working, so that’s taking a lot of time as well… The wizard is being designed, I’ve gotten some very very cool concepts from my concept artist and I’m mighty happy with what it’s becoming…

Thanks for asking btw ^^

Here are some of my 10 min life sketches…

Rebeccak, i was hoping if u can give me some critiques and pointers… hee hee…

one,

Nice work ~ you should post on the Anatomy Forum!

In the center image, her arms are rather thin proportionally for the body. In the top image, you have a nice twist starting, and just need to emphasize that a bit more with opposing curves on either side of the body. One book I would really recommend is Vilppu’s Drawing Manual, which is great for explaining how to break down and simplify forms.

Hey, and feel free to create your own Anatomy Thread here:

Personal Anatomy & Sketchbook Threads
http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=200

and to participate in any of the Workshops we have ongoing here:

Tutorials and Workshops

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

One-- I really like the torso of your first study! It has wonderfully delicate form shadows. I agree with becca about the arms and also about the anatomy forum.

Another update. Crits on the composition would be really welcomed at this point. Cheers!

Hello paperclip. I’ve seen your work around on the forums and I want to say that there is just something about your style that I really like. You have a great “painterly” look to your pieces. I feel unqualified to give crits about your wonderful work . . . but since you asked here’s my comments. I hope you don’t take them the wrong way, I really like your painting. They’re just suggestions so please feel free to ignore them if you think that I’m off base.

[Bellow I have made quick mock-ups illustrating my comments because I think it's easier to show people what I mean. However, I feel uncomfortable touching your work. If you are in any way offended by this please accept my sincerest apologies.]

If you are going for a more Iconic or central composition I would lower the boat and take in the sides to make it a close up instead of a panorama. This will emphasize the subject.

If on the other hand you would like more movement in the composition I would lower and move the boat to the right. I would also change the woman's gaze to match the direction she's facing. This will cause the position of the boat, the woman's pose, and her eyes to all move into the painting. To balance the composition you could then add a small element into the left third (please excuse my craptastic birds).

Rebeccak—i love this thread, how creative!!

thx for all your pointers and i would definitely check out your recommendations. As you can see i am still a beginer in the study of anatomy, so hopefully i wil be able to start one of the personal anatomy & sketchbook treads soon after i have gathered enough sketches.

Paperclip-- thx… i have to say that top sketch is one of my favourite, hope i can improve from it.

This is my latest toy!! Cloud & Fenrir from FF7 . Kind of give him the classic “hero” low angle shot(standing on top of my TV), then added in the “bleach bypass” style that i learnt from EA Sports when my work was bidding for a project from them.

Man, i can’t believe i am still watching cartoons and playing with the toys that are from that cartoon! hahha…this formula of marketing will always work!!!(atleast on me anyways!)

#1973

Holy… cool toy!! :bounce:
Cooler than my ‘Cloud on his bike’ toy

#1974

Bleumoon- I really like your second idea, I’m going to implement it and have some sort of creature flying in the sky that she’s going to be looking at and hopefully the viewers will think that she’s out hunting for it. Now all I have to do is think of a creature!

Thanks, man. Very much appreciated!

#1975

I love that toy!! Can you explain ‘bleech bypass’?

#1976

Hi gang!
I invaded this thread, just to let you know that I’ll be in London from May 5th to 17th.
If there’s anyone in the area we can meet for a tea. Send a PM if interested.
Bye for now,

#1977

See bleumoon, I’ve implemented your idea!

Do you think this is a boring concept? The look I’m going for is that she’s lost at sea in a small boat and she’s trying to put on a brave face, but is actually rather scared about the whole thing…sent out a message in a bottle already. I think I’ll put some paraphernalia in the dinghy to show her journey more clearly. Actually bleumoon, I prefer your version.

#1978

I think you need to add a little bit of space above her head since now she’s being given a slight haircut. Other than that, I like it lots

#1979

A little more space above her head would be nice, even if its just a little bit.
I like what you did to the clouds and the water

#1980

I moved the boat. Space problem solved! See above. ^^^^
