what I ment for windows 8 app was that windows 8 has two kinds of applications types. The Apps for tablets and the desktop apps for the desktops.
The desktop windows 8 can run both apps, but if you have example Windows Rt (the mobile / tablet version of windows) you can only run those Windows 8 apps (not desktops)…
Im currenlty using Surface pro 2 with with the real windows 8 (I could use photoshop etc with it, but its just too hard because the small monitor)… This tablet has the little brother wich run the windows RT (cant run the deskopt apps). With my Surface Pro 2 I can run both the apps / and the desktop versions… I havent really found any painting app that I like in the windows store. I am now painting with Clip studio Paint (exact same as Manga studio 5, but downloadable version) and its a desktop version (with tablet support).
Well, the reason I was thinking that you should go for the windows 8 app version is that then you could open whole new field for you.
If you want to be succesful in generally, I think you have to unique or better. And the last one is kinda hard to beat because we already have Photoshop, painter, manga studio etc etc… If you would developt for the app version, you can have people try it from both sides (desktop and tablets) and without the heavy competite of the desktop side. Also in future you might ask 5 euros from Verve? I think if you succees, you could easily make extra money? I think lots of people are just waking up for using tablets (not drawing tablets like wacom, but more like ipads and such) for painting.
Just my thoughts…
I bought Clip studio art (mange studio 5) because it has great tablet support. Ok, its a desktop app but still… the company understood how powerful these future tablets are for sketching so they changed the GUI so you can use it even with smaller screens and enabled the touche screen option (I can rotate, zoom, pan with my fingers). I would hope Adobe would follow with the CC version of the photoshop in the future but now its just too hard now.
Here is screenshot I took to demonstrate how I use my tablet example for making master copy. I divided the screen (left is windows 8 photo app, and right is the normal desktop)…
