I pushed the perspective littlebit… 1968 dodge charger on the road! Im happy about the result… not perfect still, but enjoyed alot of paint this…

I can’t help myself with the paintovers recently… it’s more for my own practice than anything else. Did some atmospheric edits on Sazem’s image and showed him in a private message since he didn’t really ask for feedback this time. With his encouragement I post it here though. Personally I think the combination of soft haze against the original hard brush strokes ended up too distracting, especially with the subtle lens reflections I just couldn’t hold back… It’s more of a conceptual test than an attempt at working within the painted presentation though.

Mainly there were some successful changes to the overall light and shadow, I think. Makes the car look more solid, and the feeling of “driving into the sunset” is enhanced. Of course, it all really comes from the great vantage point and perspective of the original image.

Now I just gotta see to drawing a picture of my own for this theme… I have an idea, at least.

I gotta admit that you made really good job with those adjustments you made in it. You brought the piece more into life with your lighting etc.

Good way to learn actually when u can see those changes and how they effect the work it self.

Also I kinda miss photoshop now more. Im currently using Manga studio 5 and it dont have opacity on penpressure setting which I really cant understand why?? With it it would be easier to make better lightning. Althou Manga studio has really great brush engine, you can mix/blend the colors really cool ways and after I got used to it, it feels very naturally (example when u press little it mixes the 2 colors together, but when you add more pressure it starts adding the paint into canvas too)…

Only thing I found similar in Manga studio what can be set mimic opacity/pen pressure was like Photoshops “Flow” but its not exactly the samething.

Sazem: Seems weird if you can’t configure the brush to respond usefully to pressure. Even if the application is intended more for comics illustration I would expect it to have such a basic tool for various shading and coloring needs. Sometimes it’s not enough to simply have a feature “on paper” though, if it doesn’t feel right when you use it. Oh well, no application will be perfect. I guess you could go try some of the ones suggested in another thread (I think it was the tourist theme, perhaps?)

I finally painted my own thing for Open Road. At least one person around here should be able to make the association. Tried my hand at Verve, and attempted to be careful about how I laid down paint to avoid mush and blobs as much as I could. Was pretty easy using the average brush actually (Ctrl+Shift). I also tried the perspective grid, but cheated a bit on the right piece and it’s somewhat off alignment.

Oh, and Taron - At one point as I was almost done, I nearly had a heart attack when the paint started boiling and eating my picture away! There were a few glitchy pixels from earlier, and when I tried to erase them for final touches they got really mad at me and began multiplying rapidly. Good thing there was undo!

no I ment that there isnt option for opacity with penpressure. There is lots of options for mixing paint, density, blurring etc etc with pen pressure. The brush engine is sayd to be better than Photoshops… and I really like it… but it seems after all they just didnt want the opacity be controlled with pen pressure.

Only place I really would like to have it, it would be when making soft brush and trying to get more light into scene.

Btw, nice sketch. Feels bit like continuation of my sketch. I had this desert type of thing in my mind too.

AHAHA, Cool! Yeah! Problem is gone, though, download the latest version! No more exploding fluids. That was just a temporary bug anyway, because I finally figure out how to control the paint build-up nicely (ironically). So, yeah, now you can safely go nuts to your liking!

BESIDES, I’ve also added some really cool brush settings, even if it’s only 2 new parameters, but they’re really massive in effect: Bristles (number of bristles) and Bristle Size (largest random bristle size). They store with the current brush you’ve chosen, so you can already kind of customize them temporarily. It’s really amazing what you can do with it, but I’ll make another demo tomorrow, I think.

I’ve done a number of other fixes. Amongst them is the png saver that now just saves RGB without alpha, because it wasn’t necessary for that anyway. It’s properly clamped, too, so you can play around with negative glossiness for some cool outline effects!

OH, I should probably make a painting for this topic, too, huh?! Darned… yeah, I’ll do that tomorrow, too…

Thanks for using Verve, drpetter! Makes me happy to see that! It has opacity controlled by pen pressure, Sazem!
