“The Cave”

You have 55mnfor your your sketch. IF you go beyond the assigned time limit , you have to post

  • WHATEVER you have done after the time has expired, along with the FINAL drawing.
  • You may post a drawing at ANY TIME, but if you wish to be eligible for the Sketch of the Week,
    it must be finished at least a week after the topic has been posted.
  • You may also re-post a copy of your finished drawing a this forum:

  • Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
  • Only final pieces can be posted on the thread.
  • They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
  • RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 1024 x 1024.
    NOTE: The forum WILL RESIZE your image. but you may post a direct link to a high resolution version of your image.

A fairly interesting idea but really badly executed!

I like the distant atmospheric light in the far far backgound. It gives it nice depth. You have a strong and dynamic composition with good tension between the foreground and background. The screen makes me think this is something to do with Plato’s Allegory of the Cave?

Hi carlylyn, unfortunately my image has nothing to do Plato’s Allegory of the Cave… The firey glow that is emanating from the cave is certainly not a metaphor for wisdom or intellectual illumination either - thank you for trying to add a certain depth to the image but I wasn’t thinking about anything whilst doing this, I was watching the Olympics at the time!

Nice job on your image, I get a sense of what the materials feel like, particularly the thin layer of soft dusty snow on the hard ice.
