A dreamlike scene or picture having surreal qualities.

Sleep transports you to a new reality; where realms are conjured from your greatest hopes, deepest secrets or even your darkest fears.

You are challenged to create, via a still image or video, a dreamscape of boundless possibilities, which will amaze and inspire the world. You can use any style, from comic to photorealistic, and any subject matter that you can dream up.

Lie back, close your eyes, and enjoy the ride as we leave the cold reality of waking life and enter the Dreamscape.

This system is very new :slight_smile: Please be kind :slight_smile:

Let us know when things are a bit wrong.

Some new things to look out for:

HD (720p) and SD videos - Upload your videos, and we’ll take care of the format for you!

Online Image processing - once your image or video entry is uploaded, crop the image in the page to show the thumbnail you want.

No more Java Uploader! Our system will accept your downloads right from your browser :slight_smile:

The new engine is a very exciting addition - As I haven’t tried it out yet, it feels weird to say it, but congrats on that! Sadly, I think this will have to be the first challenge I’ve sat out of for a half a dozen years, but I’ll still be around (given that I’m a judge.) But best of luck to everyone! I signed up, what’s supposed to happen next? Does it create a thread like in previous challenges (if yes, I can’t find it).

Threads are created per upload - this can help keep discussions focussed around individual images - it has been isolated from the forums entirely in this respect.

in the first line of the submission form, there’s a typo: “be” should be “by”.

Will there “bee” more than one “inspiration” image?

Random photos from my garden aren’t enough?

we’re working on it - we wanted to get the thing on - I’ll try to keep adding things to the inspiration pages as time goes on :slight_smile:

My first impression - WOW, this system actually is something new! I am going to take a part in it with some thread too. Really curious to see how it works. Thanks for the 720p HD support.

I really like the new system. I’m hoping however that the fluid ‘conversations’ in the threads still take place with this new system. People are afraid of change!

I love the colours, and the minimal feeling of the challenge page. Really fits in with CGTalks redesign.

I’m digging the topic of the challenge, but am not really digging the new submit system. The old thread-based system was perfect, imo. All updates were in one place…and conversations about them could flow naturally. This new system certainly focuses comments on whatever specific milestone is being viewed at one time…but having a different thread of comments for each image/video update feels disjointed.

I really hope there will still be a place for WIP threads. I noticed there’s no subforum for this Dreamscape challenge but maybe it’s on the way.

love the new look and feel guy but i have one question …

when i upload (submit) an image , i am asked about requirments and which milestone it meets
but these are video only , there is no final image submission only final video… its a little confusing…

Yeah - it’s a bit of a risk - if it doesn’t work out well, I’ll change it back next time around - if you watch a conversation in most threads it centres around bits of art, and can become fragmented if more art shows up before the conversation is over - people rely on quotes, etc to keep things flowing, this should allow people to focus more on the image in question.
