Fortress Forever is an ambitious HL2 mod that is currently Planet-Halflife’s Mod of the Week. We are looking for a coder to work exclusively with the Art team to create and implement visual effects, shaders, and particle systems. The kind of things that add the “wow” factor to a game.
CG effects are increasingly important in game development with nearly all modern generation video games taking advantage of pixel shaders and other advanced abilities of dx8 and dx9 graphics cards. Our mod will fully support dx7 and substitute effects will be used as necessary. Working in our mod team will provide great experience in game development and graphics programming.
Our team is quite large (20+ developers), with members from the US, Canada, UK, France, Norway and New Zealand. The effects programming is planned to run in parallel with the rest of the game-dev coding, allowing the effects coder time to produce work of very high quality.

Experience with the HL2 SDK is not essential but certainly a bonus. Experience with effects programming/particle systems/ dx 8&9 shaders are more important; particularly the latter.
Overall we are looking for someone who has an eye for graphics but also the technical abilities to match.
