CAT "Additive to setup pose"

Hi,
I would like to know the advantages and disadvantages of using the option “Additive to setup pose" in the “link info” panel.

Some people say you should always tick this option in order to be able to add constaints to a CAT rig…

I’m creating a rig right now and it seems to be working without it. I’m wondering if I could get into trouble later on.

Additive to Setup Pose is analogous to freezing your transforms. It essentially makes your animation layers transforms 0 based. The major advantage is that if you need to update your rig later on to reposition or reorient a node, e.g. move a ponytail bone a bit higher on the head, then all of your animation will still be valid as it is relative to the setup pose.
