Incredible artwork!
That is an inspiration for me to keep practicing more and more. Thanks for sharing your work with us and taking those hard critics.
I must say that seldom our favorite super heroes are shown as they trully are when not in the comic books. For instance, I love Daredevil and I got really surprised when the movie came out. There were many differences between the movie and the comic books. Of course when the translation from the comic book to the big screen had to be made, many things came out quite differently (not only small details), because those are different medias. In your case, I read some harsh critics because he´s holding a cigar and the shield was all scratched, but they also must remind that this is your personal interpretation, and artworks always come with the painter/professional own personal touch.
@ Everyone not liking the “worn captain America”
"Art is the process or product of deliberately arranging elements in a way that appeals to the sense or emotions." You can interpret the worn super hero anyway you want. It could represent a variety of things, such as super heroes no longer being the idealistic perfect men we envisioned as kids, as we grow older we learn the world isn’t as black and white we once thought it was.
Awesome. All things are created in the mind, and then by action. This is just the mental image, I had of a 3-D Captain America. I like the facial contours, the sturdiness, the proud glare he is giving. The posture could have been better though.
I would like to assume that the creator has deliberately refrained from proportioning the appendages too much, which is a bit stylizing this figure. That is the real cool thing about these characters and I love it.
The texture of his body suit, it is quite appropriate in my opinion.
Unique, Simply awesome.
Congrats on this (and on your other works: I arrived here from your Portfolio) .
I had seen this in the top bar before but hadn’t looked at it because I’m not into superheroes. I don’t even know who this Captain America was.
What I like very much is that you here portrayed a human hero, a seasoned pro who has been fighting for what he considers to be the good cause and who is prepared to continue doing so if needed. Yet he has the “been there, done that” mentality and leaves more to the new generation. He’s experienced enough to know he’s a loner and he doesn’t give a damn for being politically correct or incorrect as the evil he fight goes deeper than the changing fashions. Love the cigar which makes me think of those lines by Pink Floyd:
" Come in here, dear boy, have a cigar.
You’re gonna go far, you’re gonna fly high,
You’re never gonna die,
you’re gonna make it if you try,
they’re gonna love you. "
Really outstanding! As is your Hammerhead. Space marine and Juggernaut are more games style, very well done, but not much my style, and the werewolf is a masterwork in texturing. Only question I have with all them bigteeth’ers: how can they ever close their mouths?
First. I like it a Lot.
But it lost a single Star (IMHO), cause i don’t like cigarrets…lol… And, i don’t know why, that “acessory” doesn’t fit with the rest of that image (imho again). Man, look at that body, the guy looks like a 20 yrs old boy filled with pure helthy. But the looks of the image, the treatment, the cigar, his face, and the mood, looks like an old “captain”, retired from job…
It looks well dressed and with good integrity on cloths, but the shield looks like a trashcan “cap”. The “star” on the shield looks a bit too “extruded” from it… But it’s a design option, ok…
There's a lot of comic characters using cigarrets, and they look ok, but something is missing on that one to fits better with the mood (imo)... I don't know, maybe it's because of the background history of this character, don't fit to well with a "bad boy" image.
His face looks like it's from an older guy with more "mass", but the body don't follow that spectation.
It's a GREAT work overall, despiting my crap comments. :)
This looks awesome!
Though as a student, I have a question… is the texture on his suit simply a bump map? Or is that some photoshop work as well?
His shield doesn’t get banged up like that.
Read:
The shield has great aerodynamic properties: it is able to slice through the air with minimal wind resistance and deflection of path. Its great overall resilience, combined with its natural concentric stiffness, enables it to rebound from objects with minimal loss of angular momentum. It is virtually indestructible: it is resistant to penetration, temperature extremes, and the entire electromagnetic spectrum of radiation. The only way it can be damaged in any way is by tampering with its molecular bonding.
Wow…gr8 Modeling. The dirt looking texture is quite nice. It gives the impression of “After a Day’s Work”…kind of COOL.
Nice work!:applause:
