Can't connect to ftp server

#1

Hi. I hope you can help.

I’m trying to submit some last minute entries for Exposé 7 and am not able to connect to submissions.cgsociety.org. I have tried using FireFTP and FileZilla, have checked and rechecked my login and password multiple times, made sure I was using the “passive ftp” option, even tried completely disabling my firewall temporarily with no luck.

This is what I’m seeing in my ftp clients:220 (vsFTPd 2.0.5)
USER bsw_80484
331 Please specify the password.
PASS (password not shown)
500 OOPS:
cannot change directory:/home/submissions/submissions.cgsociety.org/bsw/real_bsw/uploads/bsw_80484
cannot change directory:/home/submissions/submissions.cgsociety.org/bsw/real_bsw/uploads/bsw_80484 500 OOPS: child died
Unable to make a connection. Please try again.

I’m really excited about submitting my entries to Exposé so I hope this can be resoved in time.

Thanks
Trystian

Have the same problem

and I think they’re working to solve it
We are currently experiencing temporary technical issues with our submission system. You may not receive immediate email confirmation of your submission, nor will your piece display properly in the View Entries page. However your entries are being received and will be processed in due course.

We appreciate your patience in this matter and hope to have everything back up and running soon.

I wish everything is ok today otherwise I the deadline will be delayed (I hope :P)

#4

That would be nice. I have the same thing again this morning. I even had a family member try to log in from a different location for me.

Definitely.I have the same problem here.I zipped the files with winrar (.zip format)seperately. Each of them was approximately 20-25 MBs when zipped.I used Filezilla and CUTEFtp to upload my images.Well, it looked like i uploaded the images but, when i go to the uploaded images page , the images don’t show and it says to wait for 15 minutes for the files to appear.

I am so nervous since the deadline is approaching (nearly 24 hours left :frowning: )

We’re having some problems with the FTP server, as you’ve no doubt figured. Don’t worry, we’ll likely extend the deadline a little to give those having trouble time to enter.

As an aside, its recommended that you use a proper FTP client to do the submissions. Using the link in your web browser is very unreliable as not all browsers are created equal and some are unable to handle the upload. We recommend using something like Filezilla to connect, its FREE (as in beer) and cross-platform so it should work on anything. You can of course use Fetch or WS FTP or whatever you are comfortable with.

The settings should be:

Host: submissions.cgsociety.org
Username: BSW Login (eg bsw_12345)
Password: BSW Password (eg e1e1e1)

Hit Connect and drag your zip file over. Done.

We’re still working on the server - It should be back soon. I’m awaiting confirmation of an extension of submissions. Please be patient while we sort this out.

I’ve just been informed that the Deadline for Expose submissions has been extended to the 2nd of March. One of the reasons that the server has been down is that everyone is submitting their pieces at the same time. Now you have another 10 days or so to submit I hope everyone will back off the server a bit it shouldn’t have any more problems.

There is still a slight delay in the process of images. If you have received an email from the system, it means that your images have been received and accepted. They may not appear in the edit entries page yet but rest assured that your work is safe.

Not that if you create a new entry during the period it was down then you might not be able to connect to the database to upload your image. The solution is to simply create a new entry and use the new account details to log into the ftp and upload your zip file.

Status: Resolving address of submissions.cgsociety.org

Status: Connection attempt failed with “ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server”.

Still getting this, even when creating new entry. Cannot connect to server by any software :frowning:

Try turning any firewall software you have running off temporarily while you upload. I just connected here and its working fine.

Yeah it’s working good with me. Nothing to complain now
Thank you Khendar one more time
