Can vertex colors be exported?

#1

Is there a way to export vertex colors from wings?

Specifically, I would like to get them into Max, which means .3ds or .obj formats. I know .3ds does not support vertex colors, but I thought .obj did. I can’t find any options to export vertex colors though.

Anyone?

Yes, but only through plugins or the NDO format. Last year, I wrote a LWO exporter that does just that. It needs to be updated to work with current releases. It’s on my page under INFO.

thanks for the info.

are there any other plugs out there that I might be able to use? I still would need to get it out to .max, and I have no way of going from .lwo to .max anyways.

Thanks again

I think ASE supports vertex colors, but there’s no wings ase plugin yet.

#5

scorpius,
Do you know of a good ASE importer for Max? Because natively it’s an export-only format.

vrml supports vertex-colors, I don’t if max supports vrml though…

I don’t know of any ASE importers. A few years ago I used max 4.0 to make a 360 degree animation of a radiosity scene, and it imported the vertex colors from VRML perfectly.

If it still works, then it is the solution to the first post.
