Is there a way to have the swatches show the color being selected by the eye dropper?
When I save for web and devices and select gif there…when I click on a color with the eye dropper, a little white outline squares off the color in the palette.
Is there a setting in the regular window to do this?

There’s no current way of doing this, I’m afraid. But you can use this little work-around…
Open up the color picker dialog, move the window to one side of your image, and click on the canvas. Whatever is under the eye dropper will show up in the dialog, and you can either tweak it or add it directly to your swatches.
I realize this doesn’t get you exactly what you asked, but maybe it helps.
