Can Mudbox create normal maps from two different OBJs?

#1

Hi to all,

I was wondering if Mudbox only can create normal maps from the same object that has multiple levels, or if it’s also capable of taking two different (not related) OBJ models and create a normal map based on the two of them?

If not, what application would you suggest for this kind of operation?

Thanks,
Fernando

its no problem to bake between arbitrary meshes…
or bake multiple meshes onto one…

Thanks Christoph, I’ll try and find out how that works with Mudbox, I couldn’t find it directly.

Ah, found it. Damn, after struggling for a year with Zbrush (which afaik can’t do this), Mudbox is really so easy. Especially, the interface is human (and DUH works likes all those other programs) where Zbrush is apparently made by aliens. Oh well…

lol that what i thought at first its not so bad

You can do more that that
Have you looked at vector displacement yet… it’s like magic

Yes, I checked it out… it’s a brilliant feature!

In the end I think it’s good to have two great competitors, keeps the new features comin’…
