Hey guys! I’m a big fan of the artist who made this (Eran Hilleli) and I was wanting to incorporate a flat look into my animations as well. I cannot figure out how he makes his objects render to be like the picture above. I’ve only been using Maya for 2 weeks now, so go easy on me! :stuck_out_tongue:

…diffuse material surfacing "flat"look & to acquire that paper cut-out aesthetic for your characters animations later down the track when you’ve gained some app fluidity, take a look at this “Southpark Rigging” example.

Moved to Maya>Rendering for you.
Please don’t post app or technique specific threads in GD when there are subforums dedicated to those specific subjects.

450 people viewed this and none of them had any input into how I might get this flat/hard shadowed look? Come on. This is driving me nuts!

Personnaly I don’t really get what you expect? it’s a normal toon shader…only the edge are very spiky but if you want that it depends on your model, there is no trick of special shader that will do this for you;
So start with rendering menu > toon and assign toon shader preset (two or three tone ones) and start mofifying your model to see if you can get something that works for you.
