I know it’s not new but I’ve developed a workflow in 3ds max using digital video to extract camera info which is imported into max. I then start modeling in the camera view using the camera as a projection map modifier onto the current model. as i scrub back and forth in the timeline I can make adjustments to the model to match the plate.
very accurate, very easy and oh yeah the camera tracking software is free.
Oh I can also extract textures from the projected video.
