I’m trying to improve the detail on one of my character meshes by using a bump map. I’ve sculpted some detail onto the mesh in Mudbox and exported a Normal Map, then applied the map to the mesh in Unity (the only type of map Unity supports is a bump map).
The result is pretty horrible. As you can see from the image below, there are various areas with strange phenomena that do not appear on either the original low-poly mesh or the detailed Mudbox mesh.
I don’t know whether this is a problem with Unity, Mudbox, or just my own incompetence, but I would appreciate any advice or assistance in making the model on the right look more like the one on the left!
