Built in collision detection while drawing

Is there a way in Modo to draw or paint a curve that already has built in collision detection or self collision detection?

I’m not sure what you mean. Self collision for a curve? A curve has no volume, how is it supposed to collide with itself?

If you just want to draw a curve that ‘collides’ with other objects in the scene, meaning to draw the curve onto the surface of another object, you can always use background snapping with geometry constraint ‘point’ activated.

I was comparing that feature to Houdini. In Houdini you can build a 3d tube brush that has a self collision function to it. I wanted to do it with paint effects in one step.
