I think you might want to spend more time on the basic shape of this creature, as it’s a bit hard to tell what’s going on various parts. I’d start off simple and really try to make the creature look well defined before adding detail.

Another thing i’d try is looking at references of real creatures (like scorpions) and modeling based off of those references. In particular, look at how well defined each segment of a limb is and how it connects to the body. Here’s a pretty nice picture of a scorpion that you can take a look at  http://directorsblog.health.azdhs.gov/an-az-monsoon-staple-the-scorpion-2/#post/0 One thing you’ll see, there’ a lot of fine detail, but not a lot of blobby features that are ambiguous. It’s very clear where joints are and how this thing can stand and move.

hi nuclearbeam

I had some drawings and I used those as a reference, so I will try to change the shape of the model and draw something else, to be honest I didn’t want to model an exact bug or something similar to it, I wanted to model something which is not on earth as an organic creature

thanks peter

Any way, even if you don’t model an exact bug. You need to based yourself on one

There is a principe in design (don’t recall the name) who give spectator a sense of: I know what it is, because It’s look familliar and believable.

Basically, if you try to concept an alien bug, you style need to rely on some actual close reference in real life to be able to achieve the principe.

Hope I make myself clear lol

Scote,

I might change my model to his one I just made a rough sketch of a creature

#7

scote,

what do you think about the concept for modelling

#8

Ive done some work designing my own insect-like monsters before, I like to pick small parts of many different creatures that i find interesting then mash them together similar to Pokemon. In this way you’ll end up with easily recognizable features like legs arms jaws stingers etc but also make an otherworldly creature.

You also need to think about where does this creature come from, is it naturally occurring wherever its from and has reproductive organs or is it a bio-engineered type machine/demon? What does it eat, how does it reproduce etc this will all help flesh out the creature and have all the individual parts working towards the same goal.

Thanks Litheria

I will think about it, as i said my concept sketch is a ruough how to start and continue the overall shape of the creature, i will detail it

Don’t take it personnaly, but you’re maybe not at the point to say I ‘freesculpt’ from just a small sketch. Like trying you need reference and good orthographic model sheet to based yourself. You do ortganic and with that in mind it’s hard on itself.

Hi Scote

can’t I do ortographic of this model for the base mesh and detailing it as much as i want

#12

Hi all

I just changed the concept here is the ver low poly from zbrush
