Brushed metal - Cylindrical projection issue on flat polygons


Hi there,

I have spent all day to figure it out how to make CNC machined cylindrical object and the texture in correct direction. On the side it’s fine but on other flat side it goes toward to middle instead of having rounded texture. I don’t know how to manage it. Do I have to unwrap it? Thanks a lot.


Is it the direction of the top scratches you are looking for?

Try spherical projection. And if you make a polygon selection on the cap you can tile/size that texture independently from the main cylinder to make them match.
