Bones/Rigging for Hard Edged Objects


Hey there,

I am trying to rig up my pumpjack & having great difficulty making the motor crank functions move realistically.

It’s pretty simple, really, the motor drives the crank which in turns should move the pumpjack up and down. Getting the connecting pipe to “move with” the motor and pumpjack head is very tricky for me. Every time I link something together using any kind of constraint everything goes whacky and I end up futzing with the pivot for hours…

I need to have one object basically have two constraints – one on the top, and one on the bottom. The bottom needs to connect to the motor, the top be constrained to the pumpjack head. Seems pretty simple, right?
