Boats

Hi Guys

I’ve got simple boxes for boats & I need some simple wake foam. The main foam i’ve got is fine but i want/need to emit particles from the boxes/boats along the 2 side edges but I can’t control the angle of the spawned particles.

So flow wise it looks like this

Boat — Spawn main Foam
— Spawn left edge
— Spawn right edge

So from the boat is there a way to say what degree the spawned particles emit from with out box tools 2 & 3?

First thing that came to mind was: applying the Spawn-test (by travel, with adjusted “Divergence” parameter). But I may be way off. So a screenshot, if possible, would definately help :slight_smile:

Ok Wicked, thanks for the reply.

I need particles emitted from or the direction of the red lines.

The only solution I have at the mo is using a speed by surface plane but its not giving me much control.

Doubt this is the best way to go about it, but i used two group operators to split the Pflow then you can use speed by surface for each side or any other method as you have control over each group event.

Hope thats a start

scene is max 2009 with creativity extension

I’ve never really used the Split Group selection so this is great to learn from!

no worries,
you can also set the Group Selection operators “Selection update” to Continuous rather than Once ( i forgot to check that) and you wont have the wake in the middle

The only problem is how to make it precedual since all my ships are particles & not individual models. For now I’ll keep playing.

Any ideas?
