Blendshapes and normal maps

#1

Ok I have been Searching the internet and I cant seem to find any way on how to actually Set up multiple normal maps for blendshapes

my workflow has been
First I have a base head mesh in maya I use GOZ to bring that into maya I detail it and texture it there. I use The maya blendshape plugin to make blendshapes for that head

What I want to do is rig up my blendshapes with normal maps for my head to really get the detail like the brows creasing etc. I cant seem to figure it out. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to do this?

Am I making any sense?

Hi…!
Will you be able to see it upon rendering…?

That was the hope I just want to figure out how to set up some controls for my head so when I apply for example a “frown” The blendshape activates and also my normal map for my frown to get in all the extra detail

Hi.!
You have to use a blender or something as a switch to enable the normal map on upon cranking the BS “on”.

You might want to look at this mentalray shader that allows you to combine and regulate the intensity of normal maps. Both of these things are difficult with standard maya/mentalray shaders.
