BlendShape Animation not importing

Has anyone else had this problem? I’ve tried everything I can think of to get it to work. The character face has been plotted, I’ve got the newest version of the plug-in, etc. The blendshape animation just will not import when I do a merge into a Maya file. The joints of the face are animated, just not the blendshapes. If I do an import into a brand new Maya file, the blendshape animation is there.

This isn’t just one character either, I’ve checked 3 of our 30 characters and we’re having this problem, so if someone knows how to fix this please help! Thanks!

Nevermind…I found a work around. But if anyone knows how to do it without having to use the anim export of Maya, I’d like to hear it. Thanks!

the version number of mb must use the appropriate fbx importer version…

We’re using MB 7.0 Pro and the latest version of the plug-in so I’m pretty sure that’s not it. When I did more research I saw that this was a common problem because MB likes to rename the Blendshape node or something. But thanks for trying to help me out!

i use the mb version 7.5 ,it have a fbx converter window.
in order to that :
mb 7.5 use fbx converter 2006.02;
mb7.0 use fbx converter 2005.08;
mb 6.0 use fbx converter 6.0;
and mb 5.5 use fbx converter 5.3;

Actually, you can use the 2006.02 plug-in with MB 7. It even lets you tell it which version to export for.

That being said, I’ve tried using the 2006.02 version, the 2005.12 version, and the 2005.08 version, so it’s not the plug-in. Apparently this problem has been around since MB 5. I have no idea why it hasn’t been fixed yet, but MB renames the blendshape node and that’s why blendshape animation doesn’t import. So, I just have to use a work around exporting the blendshape animation with the animExporter from Maya. It’s not a big deal, just a hassle.

your say is hard to understand. but i import blendshape setup form maya to mb. it is no problem.

i have ordered to alias website tutorial pdf to do .

  1. all blendshape model can not to group.
    use the "prefix hierarchy name " to add letter " **_name "
    make sure not use freezeform command。

  2. import to mb 7.5 use fbx importer 2006.02

  3. in mb. if you have >= 2 model. rightclick object ,use “add/move namespace” command. to addd letter " **:name " for all .

4.make facial animation use MB to key or use keyborad to control by relation expression.

  1. if it have wrong yet , redo all operation . i have done two character .it have successed.
