I noticed that when I model and object with just one light in the scene, the mesh is lit with two, completely differently placed lamps. Can`t find anything in pref window or lamp properties. How to switch mesh lighting during modeling to the actual lamp present in the scene?

In User Preferences > System you can turn on/off or set color and position of the 3 Solid OpenGL lights.
To see lighting from the lamps in your scene (if your video card supports it): In the properties panel of the 3d view (N-key) > Display > Shading, select GLSL in the pulldown menu. You also have to set the viewport mode to textured (in the 3d view header).

Thanks… Switching to Textured alone was enough. Pity Belnder seems to be unable to do that in Solid mode, my current machine tells me much when launching and using 3D programs…
