Blend shapes Question

#1

After searching these forums for about an hour and a half I decided to come to all of you with a question that I hope is simple, and I am just making it more difficult haha.
First off, I’m not a rigger, I have to make one though for my senior piece in school. In saying that, heres my question.

I have a head on my character (Naturally) And I figured the easiest way to get facial animaions, was to use blend shapes. Now heres where the problem arises. My character doesn’t have anything separating his head from his neck, (he’s an island kid with some pants and no shirt). How would I go about this? Would I just simply smooth bind it, and hope that the seam between his head and neck doesnt show up? Am I making this more difficult than it needs to be? Or should I take a completely different approach?
Thanks ahead of time for all the answers ladies and gents :). Cant wait to hear from you

1)Duplicate ur model. Chop off his head (lol).
2)Do blendShape on that head.
3)Duplicate another one, wrap it to the blendShape head on no2. Set wrap exclusive bine to on.
4)Blendshape the duplicate on no3 to you original mesh and smooth bind that one to ur joints.

ps. Make sure your deformation order is to have your blendShape layered under the smoothBind.

Hope this helps!
