blend shape from maya into motionbuilder

Hello everybody,

Question: How to export poligonal geometry with a blend shape applied from maya into motionbuilder?

I´m testing with a simple sphere with no results :frowning:

When working with NURBS i can open into motionbuilder without any problem, the blend shape works very well…but I need to export a poligonal geometry. When opening the *.fbx into motionbuilder this blend shape doesn´t work correctly, the poligonal geometry (the sphere) explodes when doing the blend!
I don´t know if it would be a problem with the maya history or with the object transformations, it would be strange because with NURBS there is no problem when open in motionbuilder. Perhaps I´m forgetting something…

…any idea or place to look for information?..

Assuming you’ve set up everything in Maya correctly (blendshape node is beneath the skin cluster in the inputs, not deleting target shapes), have you tried just re-exporting it from Maya? I’ve found that the exporter will sometimes write bugs into the files that cause my blendshapes to go crazy like that.

Also make sure you have the latest version of the FBX plug-in for Maya. I think it’s version 2006.02.
