BioWare Austin seeks candidates for a senior [color=windowtext]3D Environment Artist role in our new Austin, Texas studio for BioWare’s first Massively Multiplayer Online game. Successful candidates will have meticulous modeling and texturing abilities to do level/environmental art, as well as assist the Lead Environment Artist with the evaluation and management of art tools and assets. [/color]
Experience and Qualifications
Various degrees of education and experience will be considered provided the candidate’s application demonstrates the following requirements:

[li]5 years experience in the Video Game industry with an understanding of Real time Graphics issues, shipping one or more game titles.
[/li][li]Understand art work pipelines and processes with the ability to modify and improve them.
[/li][li]Ability to interpret the Art Director’s vision and communicate that to the rest of the team.
[/li][li]Have a great understanding of the aesthetics of environment, function vs. form relationships, as well as what makes a game level fun and intriguing.
[/li][li]Proficient understanding of color theory, able to create balanced & appealing color palettes.
[/li][li]Possess excellent modeling and texturing abilities.
[/li][/ul]Duties and Responsibilities
[ul]
[li]Create high quality 3D environment assets, texturing, lighting when required.
[/li][li]Assist the lead environment artist in evaluation of tools and processes.
[/li][li]Assist the lead environment artist in the management and review of externally created assets.
[/li][li]Help to maintain the vision of the project.
[/li][li]Communicate deadlines and difficulties to your lead and art director.
[/li][li]Test and proactively troubleshoot areas that are not working in the game engine and help to fix them.
[/li][/ul]Skills and Abilities

[li]Initiate and participate in critique of the environment work for the project.
[/li][li]Be meticulous and organized in the approach to the tasks, files and storage of the material.
[/li][li]Ability to communicate on a wide range of issues and work well in a team spanning artists, programmers, and designers.
[/li][li]Possess the ability to teach and learn new techniques and processes.
[/li][li]Be enthusiastic and expect to take on challenges.
[/li][li]Document procedures and pipelines as required.
[/li][li]Preference will be given to candidates that exhibit strong technical abilities, and demonstrate team management and outsource pipeline experience.
