Dont you love when shit like this happens in a time crunch???
Any help would be greatly appreciated, im using the morph blender to help me weigh bone influence ala cosman cd. What could be causing this?

I just got Messiah, but something similar happens to me in Lightwave when I have a bad displacement map applied to an object.
Does it happen in older versions of Lw?
im not using a displacement map… the only displacement being done here is by the messiah plugin.
have you checked the displacement order?
as a last ditch, save out the MDD into lightwave.
Stooch,
You’re not going to like this but hey, I’ll give it a shot!
You seem to be doing a reasonable amount of work with animate and LW. Investing in Point Oven Pro would be well worth it. It makes the whole pipeline sooo much easier and less prone to pain!
OK, If you’re not interested…then…
Deformation order? (my best guess - try altering this)
Simply try scrubbing the timeline?
Any scaling going on?
I’ll keep thinking - I know what it’s like when you’re up against it!
Edit - Oh man beaten by Joe!
checked displacement order, tried scrubbing, im at a loss at this point. i need to have the pose rendered out today to show clients so im going to render it and photoshop the anomaly out.
yeah im seriously considering point oven.
Hi Stooch,
Last thoughts before you commit to PS…merging points in the model? 2 point poly’s? As Joe says, bake it to an mdd.
OK what about checking the timeline…overlapping KF’s? If it’s a still, try doing it mid animation - ie create a KF 10 frames before and after…And if it’s part of an animation, try the reverse, save the scene separately and delete all the unwanted KF’s. Maybe bake out all the motions…in LW don’t allow fractional frames (I’m clutching here but I’d try anything!)
Cool re POP. You will NOT regret it! I know it doesn’t help right now but once you get going with it, you’ll not look back. When I started using animate everyone kept going on about it and I resisted - I didn’t want a third app in my pipeline BUT soon discovered tat it makes life soooo much easier. THe thought of now connecting animate and LW fills me with dread - far too much to go wrong and masive overheads - not cool when wanting super fast feedback for CA.
Edit: Deformation order in animate? have you got rogue skelegons in the model?
yeah there are no kfs, there are no rogue polys, the model seems legit. it seems more and more that its a bug in messiah. really frustrating. i dont think i have done a messiah project yet where something didnt go wrong and cause me alot of aggravation.
ok i figured it out. i was following the cosman tutorials and scaling my points down to affect them with bones, problem with LW is that it doesnt like the morph geomettry flattened all the way (dont scale them ALL the way down in local coordinates, leave the points a bit separated) so i pulled some points away from the x axis and it works fine now. i dont understand why it worked fine in messiah and not lw but if there is an issue its probably LW.
Sounds to me like an example of where weightmaps may have been useful. SO far my meshes have worked great but I can see that your santa would be a nightmare for bone deformation without further control.
Planning for Christmas really is geting earlier and earlier!
