Bifrost Guided Simulation "patchy" coverage?

#1

Hello,

I’m trying to create a guided sim in Bifrost using an ocean surface that was created using the HOT deformer and then exported as an alembic cache. Watching videos it looks like the easiest thing in the world, but I’m getting stumped on step one. Every time I apply my fluid to the mesh (in both Maya 2016.5 and Maya 2017), the resulting bifrost particles come out all patchy and separated. I can change the density in those regions by adjusting the master voxel size, but for whatever reason I can not get full coverage across my surface.

It works on simple geometry, it seems, but the second I try to apply it to my alembic waves, or even a simple deformed plane, it comes out all broken up. I’m attaching a couple sample images - bifrost applied to the alembic wave, and to a plane with a simple wave deformer. Anyone have any insight?

Thanks!
