Bending

#1

I can’t get wings to bend. No matter what I do, “it just says midpoint of selection saved.”

Can someone give me a step by step instructions for normal and clamped bends?

If you haven’t seen these yet it’s a good place to learn:

PuzzlePaul

His bending tutorial is the one that helped me.

Thanks, but it didn’t really help.

No matter how many vertices I click, dragging never causes any transformation in my primitive.

All I can accomplish is “midpoint of selection saved.”

Going to start with LMB Plastic bend as it’s prob. the most straightforward.

Did you follow the steps exactly as in the tut strip?

Getting the ‘midpoint of selection saved’ message indicates you’re probably trying to define the important points (Rod Centre / Top and Bend Normal) by selecting more elements than necessary.
As mentioned in the strip, single verts will do just fine - get more ‘creative’ when you’re used to the tool.

Reading (and acting upon) the contents of the main info line is absolutely essential (imo) - I’m assuming you’re doing this? (eg RMB would accept the selection (no matter how right / wrong) and progress the tool onto the next stage.

If you’re still stuck, I’d like to see a detailed ‘step by step’ - of precisely what you’ve been trying to do, before offering any further advice / comments

Well, my main problem is that I don’t understand the stages (as well as the prerequisites for the stages) and the overal requirements for the tool to do it’s job. All you need is a single point, right? You can just select your point, right click, and when you drag, it will bend, right?

No - Why do you think this is the case?
Have you actually read the brief pre-amble on the Bend page (before the strips) which talks about the terminology?

Well, becasue after I select that one point, wings doesn’t seem to have realized it. It won’t allow me to progress onto the next stage.
