Good to see your work! I would say that the torso is nicely drawn, and the individual features are all well ~ executed. I think his left arm is a bit large for the body, and the head a bit small proportionally. It’s great to see this kind of anatomy study ~ I would definitely encourage you and everyone here to check out the great links posted to this thread:

ANATOMY MUSEUM LONDON + Searchable Anatomy Database - very good

You can search their database for Anatomy specimens, it’s a tremendous resource! I would encourage anyone interested to use this as a great source of reference.

Well, offline for a while now…see you guys around Sunday! Keep up the great work!

Cheers,

i want find a way to make hair in graphite or carcoal, some have a tip??

Mu: hey i like fast lines, i love the second draw

Maladie: hold on!! I guess we have some days, in which it seems that one is layers to draw it everything, but in some days, in that you cannot maintain a pencil. takes a deep breathing and try again, i say this, when i feel like you.

Tiziano: hey good i want see finish

azabache: force perspective, it’s hard, good stuff…

2Dartist: you find a great master…

Rebeccak: we miss you

AIR: not yet finished, but here is an update (hope it’s ok to post WIP’s). Cloth is at least as hard as skin :frowning:
Rebecca: ahem, I’m still mousing around. Hope to get a wacom soon.

Nice studies, thanks for your comments!
2dartist
I like that drawing, I use to do the same when inventing new races for characters. Looks good!
tiziano
You are doing that with a mouse?? I admire you man!! You’re doing great!! I can only imagine what you can do when you get your hands on a wacom!!
Rebecca
In my drawings I have always used this black and white style, probably because of my “comic-wannabe” background. Since I’m trying to move forward in my art (by applying color and more backgrounds :D) maybe I should lose this developing a new system for myself. I have to try and decide.
I made some research about Hogarth, I guess you mean Burne Hogarth, the penciler of Tarzan. I have seen his work (who hasn’t?) but I have to say it’s not my artistic inspiration. Though, it was interesting to see that he wrote several books for anatomy, here is the list of books I found if anyone is interested to take a look:
Dynamic Anatomy (1958); Drawing the Human Head (1965); Dynamic Light and Shade, (1981); and Dynamic Wrinkles and Drapery (1992); plus Dynamic Figure Drawing and Drawing Dynamic Hands.

Cheers!

this is kinda the last thing I did (well not really because i`m doing a beast and a warrior) but this is part of a bigger composition I hope to submit later…I made a mistake on his right arm muscles…and I should have done the cloths more simple…
Wish u like it.

AIR: nice sketch! I like your use of different materials/techniques.
TA: wow, for mouse-work that really is INCREDIBLE!

More from me. Still not over the hump but will keep trying and trying. The most important thing I’m learning now, I think, is how to place masses with lines. Probably my hand is learning…I wouldn’t know, but I hope she’ll tell me soon:).

Just another sketch using an artists study. Spent about an hour on this, really need to get my speed up, think im taking too long on these sketches. I struggled with this piece, first started with a rough contour and blocked in the shapes. The hardest thing was getting the thigh to look right, there is something off with the arch of the back too and the shoulders and head do not seem as though they are pulling in together. Finally the shading/render is particularly bad, i can never get this right, even doing simple spheres, they get messed up. I may do my own study using a photo ref.

Rebbecak - Thanks for the link, will definately use this. Now i can get up close and personal with these anatomy specimens

tizianoadmirer - really like the light and shade on this, you handle it well…hope to be able to do that someday.

Hi everyone!

Well, I’m a real beginner at drawing (although, like everyone else, want to get better) and newbie to this forum - and after looking through works that has been posted on this forum I think there’s a whole lots to be learn! You guys are super great! Although, it’s a bit confusing and intimidating for a beginner like me to, well, to start. There’s so many things to do here that I just don’t know which to do first. There’s the assignment, sketchatron, master copy, workshop, and tons of resources that seems like bottomless pit!

So I though, I’ll introduce myself first and post my work. After that, someone might be kind enough to point me to the right direction…

http://www.bluebuster.net/picture/anatomy1.gif

I don’t have anything great. This is a freehand copy from one of my anatomy book (not even master copy -_-’) that I just did after reading this forum. (It’s 15 minutes for each sketch)

Thank you very very much for your time! Finally, THE forum that I feel like I could waste my life on

Hi everyone,

I’m still out of town and don’t have enough internet time to post anything in depth, but just wanted to welcome the new people and to encourage everyone to keep posting and commenting on each others’ posts.

Looking forward to catching up on everything on Sunday!

Cheers,

Nice drawing guys.
A-I-R,tizianoadmirer i like those pieces. tizianoadmirer, great work especialy since you are drawing with a mouse!

It has been a while since I last posted my work. Here is what I`ve been doing lately. Its still a WIP, plenty of stuff to correct, but I am putting quite a lot of effort into this one.:arteest:
It is a copy of Jacques-Louis David.

Take care!

edit Oh, I couldn`t fit the entire drawing in my scanner, so once I finish it, I will scan all parts of it and stich it together…

Hello! I’m so happy! Finally tonight I did a sketch I’m satisfied with. That took me like ten sketches in between, so to feel like something ‘clicked’ again is very rewarding! With this I feel I was more able to clear up the light and dark areas, which makes the drawing ‘clearer’. I took the ref from a stock site by Cypherx, btw thank you for that!

Took a little longer than usual, I’d say 40 minutes or so.

#833

Maladie, this drawing looks great! I especialy like the way you did cloth, I find it very hard to render cloth nicely. Are you planing to work more on this piece? Perhaps a finer rendering would make the model to “pop out” from the drawing.
Keep up with the great work :scream:

Take care

#834

Here is an update…I totally scr*wed up his left hand…Will deal with that later though.
I`ve done some value adjustments in PS, and I am quite pleased with it…
Hope you like it

2dartist, your drawing looks good. It is quite a demanding one also. Keep going, waiting for more!

#835

wow ricma! good job!

#836

Hi Mu,
Thanks  It turned out pretty good.:bounce:
Although I am not satisfied with his left arm and hand. I think that left arm is too short…?!?
I am also trying to add color in PS, which I am not very good at, so it`s a slow proces…
:arteest:

#837

ricma, I love the subtle shading! Also I can’t see a lot wrong with the proportions. I think the left arm hasn’t got much depth, that’s why maybe it looks awkward. Although it doesn’t to me…

I definately took another little step ‘up’ in my learning process. This sketch tonight came very easy in about 15 minutes. Somehow I seem to have a little more control. I’m really fascinated by this process and enjoying it. Tonight I read a thread from a guy on conceptart.org, who went from rookie to pro in 4 years, with all his original posts still in it. AMAZING stuff. Can put up a link if people are interested, it’s very inspirational!

#838

Been trying to find more time to draw lately. I need practice, trying to set myself a target of atleast one a day now. I hope I can keep it up.

Here are a couple of recent sketches from reference, as you can see I need to work on my hands, faces, feet, tone/shading and just general anatomy quite a lot so I’ll keep practicing.

Hi everyone,

Am finally back in town, and I have so much to catch up on! It’s great to see so much work being done, and also to see new people here. To all the new folks, welcome.

ricma,

It’s a pleasure to see your new work. I hope you don’t mind, but I did a bit of a review. So far, I think your piece looks really solid, there are just a few things which I think might be improved:

The left arm I feel is a bit small in comparison to the well~articulated and proportionally more accurate right arm.

The ribs should follow the basic cylindrical of the chest ~ the lines of the ribs being more or less parallel to one another as they arc around from behind.

The features of the face should also be in parallel (tough to do on a small scale, which makes getting the basic gesture of the features even more important).

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

2dartist,

This is a nice study you did of the Crouching Boy sculpture by Michelangelo. I think one thing you might do differently is to average out the curve of the back more and make it a bit less randomly bumpy. Also, I think proportionally to the legs, his upper torso should be a bit larger. Take a look at the brief paintover below and let me know what you think:

I think this kind of study is great, and I’d like to see more like this.

Cheers,
