Here’s the pic of the stove and barrel in the sled. I know the stove is a little hard to make out right now, but it’s supposed to be cast or wrought iron like the base of the sled.
Here’s the pic:
Beast of burden - character - ZrO-1
OK here’s the pic of the new support group for the carriage. Basically it’s 2 4x6 beams running front to back, then 4 4x4 beams running across those where the tops of the springs mount. And last another set of 4x4 beams that link the bottom of the springs to the 2x6 beams that connect to the plates on the beast’s shell.
Here’s the pic:
Lastly, here’s a wider shot of the backside of the beast and sled. It’s just to show how all the new stuff fits in overall.
One other idea I had that I’m not sure about is adding a solar panel and radardish to the carriage to sort of show the futureistic/sci-fi side of the piece. What do you guys think about that idea?
Anyway here’s the last pic for now:
 no comments on my new stuff?
hehehe no big deal. I just finnished weighting my cowboy basically all of the really bad pinching and stretching is gone now. I’m rendering a scene now withthe cowboy placed, but not posed in the scene now. I better get some crits then!!!

definitely great!
don’t wanna bug you with my suggestion again, but i’d model some footsteps and scratches that the beast produces in the desert sand.
cool work.
some trapper stuff but no electrical devices! you need to place the stuff the beast will eat on truck-stop houses somewhere
Hey zro-1,
hadn’t checked this for a week or so, man it’s looking freakin awesome. Love the cowboy, you just gotta have him chewing some straw, or an old cigar.
You could put a bit of wear and tear on the boards that make up the sled too, maybe some are snapped off from lifting that pot belly in.
No crits dude, it’s awesome.
@ sad: yeah, i started messing with the ground. I had added in the rutts along the “road” and the next thing I’ll do is add in the actual foot-prints from the beast. I wasn’t ignoring your suggestion, just hadn’e gotten around to it yet.
Thanks bro.
@ phil: I have a cigarette in his mouth, and I thought I had it scaled properly, but since it’s hard to make out I’ll scale it up a bit.
Good suggestion about the boards. I did model in a missing board on the back chain-linked gate of the sled, but maybe I’ll do some more dammage to it.
Stay tuned for 2 pics with the cowboy in the scene they’re on their way.
another idea:
as the sun is hot and very blinding and therefore i believe that the planks must be bleached. in that case the planks are way too dark.
i’m curious what comes next!![]()
OK here’s the first pic with the fixed cowboy in the scene. Is it just me or does this pic remind you of a certian movie about a sinking boat with Loenardo DiCaprio in it?

Here’s the pic:
And here is a wide-shot. This basically shows everything in the scene right now.
Here you go:
Hey zro-1,
sorry i missed the cigarette, went back and had a look and you can just make it out, it was just blending into his lip a bit, my fault
now hurry up with those pics dude, you can’t just leave us sweating it out like this!
He’s the KING OF THE…er…desert…bug thing.
Maybe he needs a frontier version of Kate…bet it gets lonely out there looking for bounty and punching chitin.
Been a while since I commented, and of course you’re a million miles more ahead on it, so everything’s been said really…looking awesome
I agree the clothes folding is a bit odd/clingy…and the ‘bug skull’ would be a really cool idea, or some other kind of related gear, like what other kinds of giant insects roam the range? Maybe instead of the customary skeleton on the desert floor you could have a husk exoskeleton…
Only thing that’s kinda bugging me is the fact that the tailgate type thing on the trailer doesn’t seem like it’d hold anything in…should strap that stuff in there and maybe pack some more…sort of fighting the flimsy construction tho…I dunno.
Anyway, still swamped with work and catching up on threads but had to give up some mad props…rock on… :buttrock:
I hate that! not the ims, the email at the same time thing. Love the ims. Interaction between beast and sand next?
Is the final image going to be in a sand storm? Could b cool.
Kepp up the awesome work.
Nice.
I like the stove…but maybe you could test some different colors for the cowboys shirt, its the only thing im not liking right now. But besides that, it looks great.![]()
OK guys I did some stuff to address your comments. I added some sacks into the sled to pack everything in tighter. I bleached the wood a bit, but this is as light as I’m making it. I added a bleached out bug skeleton in the sand in the background, but I’m not going to change the cow skulls on the side of the sled. I also moved the ropes to the side of the carriage so I could recycle the wrought iron decorative plates as hooks.
Here’s the first pic of the sled:
Here is the pic of the side of the carriage with the ropes. Also you can really see the lighter wood in this shot:
Here is a close-up shot of the bug skeleton in the sand. It’s a dead version of the beast that pulls the carriage & sled:
