beast of burden - character - toxichimp

#16

I’d say just consider it a happy accident. Call the white line plaque build up or something :smiley: :wink:

#17

lol! A huge, horrific creature with a dental problem. Isn’t that something :stuck_out_tongue:

Just have to change it because I know for sure that at every new render it I’ll annoy me more, and end up fixing it anyway :stuck_out_tongue: … truely is a curse :annoyed:

#18

cool start ,agressive teeth…mmmmmmmm… i cant wit to see the body oooouuu…

#19

Yeah actually I like the plaque idea…big nasty carnivore breath :smiley:

I think it’s due to the smoothing out there…the whole thing is one piece, right? I’d try grabbing the teeth and sinking them down into the gums, or maybe bandsaw a small extra row into the bottom of each…or you could just leave it…with lighting, more shadows, more beast, I don’t think that’ll be the focus. Hell, I didn’t look it and say to myself “HEY, LOOK AT THE LINE ON THOSE TEETH!”. But then no one noticing an error will never stop you from wanting to slash your wrists every time you see it, I know the feeling :slight_smile:

Anyway, keep bustin’…

#20

That did it hypercube :smiley: Thanks loads. It’s just a bit more into the flesh now, and it actually looks better geometry wise aswell :smiley:

Here it is, tell me what you think :bounce: ;

#21

Brutal, So much for trainig=ng him to be your carier.
He taht looks really good man:thumbsup:
Can’t wait to see the boddy attached and this one to was going to be a spider? right?

#22

Yup :slight_smile: should end up looking like this:

… FINALLY got it scanned :stuck_out_tongue:

#23

Some viewport screenshots;

Needs alot of tweaking but the main layout for the creature should end up looking like this…

Crits are more then welcome :stuck_out_tongue:

#24

!!! :eek: …jawdrop!!! faaAAAAaaaantASTIK!!!..:applause:

#25

Run Awaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy!!! :scream:

In the (psuedo) words of BA Baracus, “I pity the fool that gonna tame that beast!”.

Looking bleeding marvellous! :smiley:

#26

I like that ~great work !Can you show me some wireframe mode!

Check out my challenge
Beast of Burden

#27

that looks GREAT! I really like the structure of your BoB:applause: :applause:

#28

Thanks a lot :slight_smile:

Tweaked and rendered it;

Still need to change the color of the mouth, looks a bit ugly :confused: Crits are more than welcome ones again :stuck_out_tongue: , and be brutally honest :smiley:

#29

doh, almost forgot :slight_smile:

The wireframe;

#30

man this is lookin fantastic. a few crits(knowing your not done)
i would emphisise what each part is i.e. is his head flesh or shell if its flesh it needs more variation of form(musclestructure to work that big jaw) also the upper legs look underdeveloped, again are they flesh, bone, shell, exoskeliton. if its an under water creature he needs agile propultion(maybe a bigg tail) those legs dont look like they can push him through the water… in my eyes youve got a lobstery creature, so use lobster reference. one more, his legs look like they are for digging in sand or the bottom of the ocean, but his teeth say flesheater allthe way, so how does he catch his prey.(needs grabbers or somethin. annway im sure you probably have this all worked out . but i think waht you have looks awsome.
my bob

Thanks!

The shell/flesh diffrence seems like a good idea, right now the only diffrence is color. So I’ll probably add a bump map to the shell and it actually has some sort of muscle structure, just too smoothed I guess :slight_smile: I’ll push it a bit inward, should look more clear then I hope. The upper legs were done rather fast, and I’ll probably make it look more like flesh, or add some organic armor.

Also, I haven’t really thought about stuff like that. I just started making scetches, ended up with this and started modelling. The teeth just gave it a nice touch I thought, and the legs were just tweaked into this shape. Also, it will be walking, but now you mentioned the lobster style, it got me thinking :slight_smile: Sure is original…

Instead of a chair on his back a small sub under it :smiley: With an owner that lives by plundering old ship wrecks, as a solution to making it haul something :slight_smile:

#32

Oh, I thought this was a water bug type of BoB. The feet right now definetly look more like their suited for the water than the land. Other than that rizob managed to crit anything else I might have said so I’ll just say “ditto”. :slight_smile:

#33

It’s far from finished but thought I’d show this here anyway. It’s the model of a mermaid (explanation below :p) and a lighting test. I could really use critism on both the anatomy and lighting since I’m a huge newbie at this.

I turned the beast into a water bug now (thanks to the crits and comments :slight_smile: ) but thought a sub under it didn’t really fit. Now this is a bit twisted perhaps but the new idea is a water bug that’s a slave of 3 mermaid witches. They look pretty cute and nice up close, but ones their mad they turn into hideous old witches and kill stuff :smiley: … No idea what the poor water bug will be hauling but I’ll figure that out while modelling the mermaids :stuck_out_tongue:

#34

Ok, some critism on my own stuff lol. But just to get this cleared :stuck_out_tongue:

Just found out the elbows and boobs look a bit weird :confused: I think it’s a atanomy problem so gonna go tweak that right away… Last one doesn’t matter too much I think because I’ll probably add a top to make it kiddy friendly :stuck_out_tongue:

Also wanted to ask if anyone has any tutorials on rendering and lighting, so far I couldn’t find any real helpful ones :frowning:

#35

Shes got those too perfect breasts. But that will be okay if she is underwater, (boobs float):drool:

But seriously folks…
Where was I?

Oh…
Oh yeah!!! Show us a good shot of the wireframe. Until then I can say it looks like all the anatomy is placed correctly. The collarbones should be a little more curved towards the shoulder. But that’s about all. How about that animation you were doing. Did you ever finish it? I never got to see it.
