Beast of Burden - Character - Three

#1

Uhm okay… eh, i don’t know where my first linguini went… but, well… that doesn’t really matter anymore.
thing is, my computer went down yesterday and i had got one of these BoB’s i’ve been “working” on… but it sucked… so i went back to the drawingboard and went to work.
haven’t got a scanner so you’ll just have to wait for the ref. pics :stuck_out_tongue:
those of you who’d seen my first entry will certainly notice the difference.
Okay here goes, i’ve named this one… Bart.

(cute tail eh? :D)

and one posing from the side.

that’s all in a days work. necessary components:
1 pack of prince
1 crate full of coke (that is coke as in coca cola)

BEEEEER!

nicei cartoony design. i like the big feet and thin legs stile, the way u give it to him

#3

Eh, is this called bumping? SMILE

Well, one last thing before i hit the sack… i did some sort of goofy animation, ~2.2 meg, avi.

Wag it baby, wag that…

Beer… sleep… cigarettes… sleep.

@ InnerVortex … hey man, i updated at the time you wrote. Thanks  I’m pretty happy with him myself… still, the legs need tuning, as well as the head… can’t seem to get his jaw right, that’s why it’s not there at all  go figure.

#5

thx for the reply on my post three; the beef:
lookin good i m really likein ur style hes got that look to him, i think the head looks fine, but i think it would look cooler with a more mean look instaed of bubley cute.
i dont knwo if this allmakes sence, its sweetas it is, jsut a suggestion

peace

#6

Okay, new avatar, and new problems.
Can’t seem to get the god damn jaw right!
If anyone’s got any sort of idéa for a jaw i’d be happy. my ideas fell out of my head earlier today… too much fresh air i guess… dope!
:argh:

I can see a serious case of browneye developing here. maybe it’s just my sick sense of humour, love the toon look and feel, want to see it move.

#8

well keeping with the cartoon look, you could make a tiny jaw, smaller than his nose or a jaw thats larger than the nose with big lips. Also think of what expression you want on the face. I think it ooks great so far. Im not so good at making cartoon style models so its great to see others that are

#9

@ riki … browneye? if you want to see something move on him, check this link out: http://w1.522.telia.com/~u52210475/wag.avi

@ Crode … <nods> would look pretty hot  i’ll try and see what i can do. I’ve been thinking about scaling down his nose, but i don’t really know…
about the toon-stuff, i didn’t actually start out modeling this one as “toony”… but well, things happen  i’ve never modeled something cartoony before either… but love the look of it

And now for something completely different:

UPDATE!
<listens for roaring thunder and wind wipping the countryside>
<disappointed>

#10

Cartoony look is good! Realism is good and all, but this kind of look should never die.

Very impressive. Very, very impressive.

I’m impressed!

#11

@ erliaz … yeah, i know what you mean, i love this sort of look myself… still, didn’t even try to go to this look, it started out “real”. can’t say i regret the swing it took

#12

Okay, I got a bit bored modeling Bart so I started sketching up the contraption… it’ll get dragged behind him.

a lot of dead bodies in a wooden cart… well, you get the idea… the whole “bring out your dead!” bullshit that went on in the dark days… eh, or whenever
one note, it’s NOT according to scale, hopefully i’ll be able to finish this one before the end of the challenge
it could be a bit to huge of a task for me, but i’ll try.

c&c are all welcome here… bring me down, bring me up. build me up buttercup.

this is the time for cigarettes.

#13

cool character, I really like his default pose, nice and wide…reminds me of a car.
perhapes some light muslce detail or wrinkles could add alot even if you are going for a cartoony look.

fetus

#14

@ Fetus23 … yeah, i’ve been thinking about muscle detail as well, but i think something messed up with the mesh, can’t seem to cut the polys right… i’ll look into it a bit more later, it’s morning here and i’m booked.
but as you say, it has got to be light, otherwise it’ll really cut the model into pieces.
by the way… what car would that be? a new nice bmw or an old busted up pegout?

#15

Yeah, you read it… i just got a jaw, err… no, that is, Bart just got a jaw  and i’ve also fixed up his “toes”… i don’t really know why, as the toes won’t be there when i’m through.
but you know “in the heat of the moment” and so on.

well, here’s the shiznitz:

i started with the contraption part as well, but it didn’t turn out the way i wanted it… i’ll just finish Bart first

Crits! Crits! My friends, i need crits!

#16

hmm what kind of car…a 1989 ford truck
Look’n good! He’s ready to pounce…
go go!!

#17

you could add some nostrils and some details around that area, but keep the size of the noze, it looks great. The toes look pretty cool, though enhance them a bit. What do you mean by they wont be there when your though?

Ive been thinking about what makes something cartoony, and its by mixing up proportions which you have done well. Its possible to go with a realistic cartoony look too

What i mean about the toes not being there when i’m done is that i’ll model some sort of metal “shoes” for him… hard to explain right now, but i’ll make one model with “shoes” and one without and probably let you guys decide what’s most cool.

You could try some sandals then you could keep his toes

Hi all!
Thought it would be about time for me to pop in again. Just started work for a game dev. project… i’m developing all 3d-models for the game, and man, it’s damn hard sometimes, but i love it
I just had time to update my BoB today, re-constructed his legs, trying to add a bit of musculature… don’t really know how well it turned out… but hey! that’s what you guy are for

Here he is:

okay, time for crits… come on my friends! hit me!
