Beast of Burden - Character - Phazak

Hello Everyone,
This is my first post and 3D challenge. I have a sketch here of a giant fish that drags along a cargo seashell. This idea is nothing too exotic, just wanted to do a sea creature instead of land walker. Sea people need beasts of burden too.

Oh sweet!
How the heck did I miss this one? I really love  your drawing. That’s a really cool concept. It makes me think of the painting of AphrodytieI[/I] standing in the scallop shell.

I love the fish too. i think this will be a fantastic entry.

I finally got a chance to work on this. Just started the head. Here’s a pic. Let me know what you think. Thanks

that sketch is great!
but i’m not sure how to teach your fish the necessary emotion:
“must show ONE emotion from the following - tired / angry / stubborn / straining”
till now it looks rather emotionless…
waiting for more!

Hey Strange, thanks for the feedback!

When I am done modeling I will try to make my fish “straining or angry” Most likey with morph targets.

Well, here is an update.

It looks good, but maybe you can put some more detail in the tail

very nice design!

have to agree with Mr. Nice Guy, but I’m sure you will do this soon

and I personally think a fish looks always tired, so no problem with the emotion

Here are some new pics. I feel I am 95% done. I am still working on bump mapping for the scales and surface area. One of these pics shows the fish is angry. Tell me what you think.

Here are some wire frame shots.

Added some color and bump mapping to it. Still needs more work. I will try to work on it before midnight tonight. To everyone else in this challenge hats off to you, there really is some great work out there.

I think you did a great jog bringing your fish from the sketch over to 3D. It looks really good. I really hope you can get the shell/burden into the piece before the challenge is finnished.
Great stuff!
