Beast Of Burden-Character-Maxx

#1

Okay - here goes. It’s my first contest entry, and I can’t hand draw worth a good gosh diggit :argh:, so take some pity, please.

Anywho - I figure it’s in the future and stuff, and Mankind has decimated most animal life. So, what do we as people do? Begin mucking about with gene splicing! That’s right, a genetically engineered race of pack people, built, born and bred to do nothing but haul rich people’s crap around. They’re mute, mostly deaf and partly machine, but they’ve got great eyesight and are stronger than an ox. They’ve also got all the snaps and clips you would need to hook your stuff to them already grown into their skin. And, of course, the rich people who own them brand and tattoo and pierce them - to show ownership and sometimes … just 'cause .

So I hope I have enough time to actually get some work done on this thing - I kind of wanted to join because I’ve watched all the great work here in the past and was hoping to get some tips and crits from everybody. (Got a lot to learn and this seems to definately be the place to do it!)

Good luck to everybody.

Just a quick update - Haven’t started working on the butt or head or arms, and need to finish the legs and tail, but it’s moving. There’s some built-in circuitry on the back that I didn’t render and will prolly build on. I just hope I can get him to look enough different from a human that I’m not breaking any of the rules.

Comments and crit on model so far are appreciated and welcome.

that’s a cool sketch, “Giger-esque” can’t wait for the final piece! (oh wait-it’s only been one day–holy cow!)

#4

I’ll be the first to admit it looks cool, but doesn’t it infringe on rule #5 a touch, Humanoid Figure?

#5

I reckon youd get away with the sketch cos hes bent over like that. Also his legs arent very human. I was a bit worried about mine cos its bipedal, I just made him really bent over though.
You will probably put him on all fours later will you?

#6

Yeah, he’s going over on all fours. Also, with the legs, tail and head, I was hoping it wouldn’t be too human. I have to admit, I was a bit worried about it when I first posted, but I think I can work it out. I do want the humanoid side to be there - after all, his people used to be human - but I don’t want to break any of the guidlines. I think I’ll keep working on it, and if it looks iffy at the end, I’ll just drop the contest.
