Congrats! Very stylish. Nice mood. Good BOB. I would like
to see some mountains fading in a long distance…
Beast of Burden - Character/contraption - shaun lupton
I like the style also. Maybe you should think of attaching the head to the body before goign back to the big guy. Just an idea.
Sorry,
I gotta little carried away. I was just experimenting with an exagerated pose and came up with this.
Geat job so far, full of character.

Hey all, I appreciate the comments and critiques, it really does get me motivated to finish this thing. I have time today to finally put in some heavy work into this piece, so plan on a lot of new things by tonight. our C&C is always appreciated…
KOryH- ahhaha, muy perfecto! I love the quick sketch, your pretty handy with the painting tools, love your work! Ill take your pose into conisderation… Thanks for the post.
Marc- thanks bud,I plan on doing the finall attaching once I get everything right, so dont worry, everything will be together an attached by the final renders.
Mandrake- hey thanks! the mountain idea sounds good, I may do that as well in the final compostite, actually sure, why not, it probably will make the piece that much better, thanks for the insight!
Virtuoso- hey, thanks for your posts, Im glad you liked my idea, hopefully by tonight you will like it even more for I plan on adding a ton of more stuff, but need to get something to eat first, thanks again for the kind words, that is well appreciated…
alright all, im going to get something to eat, and then get to this challenge, look for a ton of posts later on in the day!!

Very funny :). could you give us the wireframe? I wonder how clean is that model, coz it looks hellish good. The positioning of that guys left arm is a bit unnatural, and the gloves look like there where hands, try to fix it, maybe a leather bump map? I think that;s allowed. And that’s all I think, there isn’t much to comment in such great piece of work.

:surprised Hey how did u make that strom im trying to get a sand storm feel for my beast but ive failed, plz tell me how u did it : )
Crash- hey crash, thanks bud for the comments and critiques, very helpful! I also got a wire up for you, I have a couple more if you want me to throw them up, its up to you. The guys left arm is like that cous hes holding the reigns of the horse which will be more visable on the final piece, another reason I put them so high was before it blocked the donkeys face, but Ill see if I can do something about it so its more natural, as far as the hands, right now they look like gloves, but they will be plain hands, I havent done the big shirt for this guy yet, hes still naked in the blistering cold, im working on that and a new surprise tonight, Ill throw those up tommarrow morning, thanks for the post!
Lukashi - hey bud, as far as the storm, and everything else, they are all composites, the storm I could have done with a particle effect in maya, but to get it just right, I would need to spend some extra time which I do not, so i did it in photoshop on its own layer, to get the dust cloud that you are asking for, I dont know what program you are using, but I suggest doing a particle cloud emitting from the surface, and just make it dense. It just matter how in depth you want to get with particles for you can create mini tornadoes and dark clouds in the sky and all that really easy, but time needs to be spent on it to look right is all. I suggest you do it the fast and less stressing way and photoshop it, maybe still think about doing the fog cloud from the surface in your progrma though. I use MAYA 4.0 by the way.
shaun, thanks for the C&C guys…
oh, the dark blue are nurbs, and the lighter blue are polygon modeling! :P, I just saw it came out blurry so I attached another one too!

well, here is the 3rd character out of the trio… He will either be drinkig a beer or hot coco, I havent decided yet. Hes still a WIP just like the other 2, but im getting closer to finishing this thing. Any suggestions or comments is very appreciative… Thanks for all the C&C thus far, its helped me alot, and kept me moving ahead!
,
hey thanks guys for your comments, I was hoping you would like the 3rd character. So I have now a tired worn out beast (donkey) a giant fat burden on his back (monster) and a cute, maybe half drunk possom relaxing at the top of this escapade. Once I finish the details on his, then im going to start fine tweeking everyone, throw on some expressions, and finish the load on the back, and then call it a month! gasp!!! thanks for all the C&C guys, I appreciate it a lot!!

Hey all,
well, as you know, ive only had minimal time to update this thing, and I try to whenever my short, art, or school, are not in the way. Its very tough for me, as I talked to one of the members of the group tonight, and the extra time even though its minimal working on this BOB, should go to the short, for that is so much more important to my career as well as the other guys in the group. So my time will be spent with that until we finish, im sorry, I do plan on posting my final image before the deadline, but for now, I will not have time to update… Thanks for all your C&C thus far, its helped me finish this thing even if its 3 or 4am in the morning that I have time to work on it. So, look for the final image as my last post!, This challenge has been great, and I had a great time doing it and meeting you all at the same time… Its been fun!

maybe the beast more detailed could be better.:applause: ![]()
hey all, well this was my final piece being submitted, I hope it is still ok to turn it in for I thought deadline was 12PST instead of est. Im sorry, if I had those extra 2 hours, I would have given you guys better render etc. But dont worry, Ill keep going with these 3! they were a ton of fun! Thank you all for your added support, enjoy!
shaun
another render that just finished… blue color
thanks for the reply phil, you have a fantastic model too!
P.S. I call them the 3 drunken amigos! the 2 ontop are the keepers of the great tasting fermenting beer barrels, they must travel across the snowy mountains to make their yearly shipment to my cabin house at the tip of mount RealHigh. They require a cheap means of transportation, what the heck! a donkey will work! what a BURDEN! as the rodent ontop drinks a pint and relaxes the whole way through… sorta of a means to an end of a fantastic beast of burden challenge, been fun! Look out for my final composited image tonight. shortly

FANTASTIC!! :buttrock:
I think its the most burdened beast I have seen. ![]()
really nice clean model…be fun to animate.
