Beast of Burden - Character/Contraption - Erilaz

#141

Okay! Here’s the final setup of my BoB. I need some serious crit on scene, camera angles to use and sundry before I render this guy in full glorious goodness! Lighting is limited at this stage, because I’m just using quick and dirty shadow maps!

I really appreciate what you talented people have commented on so far and I’m ready to take all you can hit me with, so ready… GO! :wip:

#142

One more angle, just to give you all more to look at. These images are amazingly small in size! Must be all the grey compressing.

#143

I like this erilaz!
Its got a lot of appeal!

I don’t know If your still taking crits on this, and if not just ignore what I’m about to type, I know the hour is late!
The only thing I might suggest, is to nudge the hanging object on the poles back slightly from obstructing the great expression you have on the turtle’s face. And thats about it.

Good work, and again, a lot of appeal!

#144

Thanks Drongo! It’s means a lot to get positive feedback from such a skilled artist!

Does this look better?

#145

I think It helps erilaz…
more importantly…what do you think?
Definitaly less obstruction and more balance?

Good stuff erilaz!
It’s got a lot of charm!

(oh I forgot the clock, I really like the clock on the side of the chest!)

#146

I think you’re right Drongo, it has balanced things out a bit better. Thanks for the tip! And hey, nobody’s ever commented on the clock before, so thanks for that too!

#147

Hmmmph… maybe if you just imprinted the sand just below the tortoise…

#148

Interesting that you should say that, because I have indented the sand around the tortoise, and I just realised you can’t see it in any of my renders! Thanks for the pointer. I’ll fix up that indenting right away!:wip:

#149

Just need to know quickly if midnight EST deadline is for the USA, or for wherever you are in the world. i.e. It’s an hour to midnight here in Australia, but won’t be for another 10-14 hours in America, so what’s the story? Can anyone tell me so I know if I can go to sleep and post my renders in the morning?

#150

Well just in case, here is my final image compilation.
If someone let’s me know, I may try to do the ray-traced shadows, but I don’t have time to do them if this is it!

FINAL TORTOISE AND THE HARE!

I’d just like to thank everyone for their amazing support on this forum! I can’t wait to do the next challenge!

Have fun all!:wavey:

(oh, and my final image is on the end of page 10… just realised!)

#152

really nice work! love the little dog/rat…the animal on the top

#153

very cool erilaz, I love your concept , look forward to seeing you back here for the next challenge.

#154

Oh poor little guy…

Hey great work…

I realised I had a whole lot more time due to timezone stuff. so I got more done.

#155

I like your motif! The contrast between the two main characters is a great juxaposition. Are you planning to do more with this scene?

Thanks for the comments guys!

ic4: Thanks, it’s a mouse… yeah, hard to tell isn’t it?:hmm: Oh well, it was a last minute (day?) addition!

phil: Same to you man, you’ve got a fantastic scene rendered there!

kayosIII: Yeah, I didn’t realise we had that long! I would have rendered some raytraced shadows overnight otherwise!

zenzmurfy: It’s not everyday you see juxtaposition used in a sentence! I’m probably not going to use this scene for anything, but you never know! I like the concept, but I’d have to remodel the tortoise if I was ever going to animate it properly!:surprised I guess I’ll see. I’d like to put some character to them and make a story. You may see it it the WIPs down the track!!
