Beast of Burden - Character / Contraption - Earl

Well, I’m far too late to take my idea any further, seeing how my first post is probably past the deadline.

I drew the sketch at work today, then quickly dropped some colours in just to flesh it out a bit.

The idea for the beast started here:

And went here before I knew there was a 2D challenge:

Then Kirt saw my post in the 2D WIP forum and told me that there is a 2D section to the challenge. I haven’t had time to do anything with my idea except think about it until this morning, so here is my merchant barge, pulled by a taurosaurus across the desert plains of some dusty planet:

And a larger image is available here, but there’s not a heck of a lot of detail work to see…

Glad you made it over here Earl. Your beast looks good, and the skull barge is a cool idea. Glad you changed the feet on your beast since the hooves really didn’t seem to fit the rest of him. I think you have about a day left … maybe enough time to rough in an environment or at least put down some shadows so that they don’t appear to be floating on the page.

You definately get the vote for best late entry :smiley:

Well, I’ll give it a shot. I have no practice in making details in colour, so I don’t know how far I can take the landscape.

It now occurs to me that the layout for my merchant group is too wide. I can never show a reasonably close shot without cutting out one of the units.

It would be nice to have a whole month to work on this :shrug:
