my origanal concept was done on July first. after veiwing all the amazing stuff everybody has been pooting up. I thought I would try remodoling with a more simplified structure.

Horse and Carrage By:Matthew Baldwin
when I startid this I was thinking I was going to use it for my demo and maybe I still will. my goal was to have a Horse and Carrage fly up through the clouds docking at the steps of the home of dioniteis af rulon. just concept stuff.
my main goal in 3D is to bring my creative spirit to Games
I took some time and remodled the horse using the old one as a referince here is the wire frame.
well I have been takin it easy and pooting a little stuff on the 2d art page. But I am still working on the horse and carrage.

Hi ! your horse is cool but i think you can accentuate his feeling with more details on the nose & mouth…:bounce:
Well, the cowboy;) is great but why don’t you use some plug in to make hair?
good luck for the challenge

I am so stuck on the rig I don’t know what to do I have tried constrains IK’s, splines. m bone chains clusters everything
the problem is. from the herness over the back of the horse to the mouth there is reins that are used for controling or steiring the horse.
I can’t get a wide range of motion withouth crashing maybe I need to go a differint rout.
there is the spot I was talking about with the reins when the front hips are rotatid it crashis
I need to find a way that would inable me to have control points all along the chain ut when one moves the rest follow acordingly
what should I do.
Hi boygonemad, let me start by saying that I would have commented much sooner, but somehow I’ve missed this thread up 'till now.
Your idea is really cool. I like the fact that you have such an ordinary concept for your entry. The horse looks great. Both the original and the low-poly simplified version both look fantastic. I really like your driver also, but I think you need to smooth his body the way you did his head.
I wish I could help you with the rigging, but I’ve been having trouble on my piece with rigging as well, so I cant offer many suggestions. The one thing I would suggest is; why don’t you just use a bend deformer rather than a long chain of bones on the reigns?
Just a suggestion, keep in mind I can’t even rig a human correctly :hmm:
Great work so far ![]()
I agree with my forspeecher, the beauty of this oner lies in it’s simplicity. Everybody’s making monsters, and you’ve gone the other way, the old stylish way. That’s good and original in it’s speccial way. The horse model it superb clean, I wish mine was that clean, I don’t even know if I’ll be able to move mine without any polys break :p, I’m sure you won’t get that kind of problems. What’s gona be the enviroment like? A desert would fill in fine, but you should be original coz many guys here are making deserts, try to think of something else. Good luck. I’m watching you

Hey there! I wish I could tell you more on the rigging…If you are using max, you may want to try flex on the reins…that may take some tweeking though. There’s also Zro-1’s suggestion of the bend modifier…I’m not sure what other options you have (besides bones). I wish i could be of more help! Sorry I missed this post earlier (spend most of my time in the WIP forum) I’ll keep my eye out for your progress! Good luck!
well I figured that by constraining the reins at the body strap and pooting a IK spline with clusters thast are then parentid to or constraind to posisions I requird. I then poot a IK with a pole vector for the body strat to the mouth.
this however is still very limiting on how far I can turn the horses head to look both ways befor crossing the street.
eny how I am a dilligent workier and I will do it as many times as I need to to get it right.
now I have it all worked out but the weiting is going to kill me it seems somthing is slightly off set and I am unable to mirror the weits my file is now called Rilly_stuck.mb
Maya 4.0
I just had a little fun with it its all attributes and IK handls that are fallowed by everything elts wich then can be animated secondaraly lower in the chain.
wow!! It’s a great job of modelling!!
I can’t wait to see when you focus your work on illuminaion and textures!
keep posting! :wip:
Just I think the guy is too much cartoon comparated with the rest of the scene… but… why not?! :applause:
