Oh ya, as for the women figure, I got my inspiration from a famous Baroque sculpture “Assomption de la Vierge.” And as for the man, I just made him up:shrug:
My ship’s name is … . . “The Ascendant”

The pen have allways been mightier than the sword.
It’s really strange… now the computer is slow when I start modeling… you know… a box is all it takes and then the computer REALLY slows down, and as soon as i make a couple of extrusions and add a meshsmoother it works like a clock… yesterday was a weird day. Time for me to go to bed… it’s 0730 here. <yawn>
take care… i’m looking forward to those “leonardo” models.
:wavey:
Even better!
After all this tense sketchy excitement, your model had better be damn good or POW! :wip:
Just kidding. Your sketches alone are worth their weight in gold.
Which brings me to another question: How much does a pixel weigh?

A small update:wip: :wip: :wip: :wip:
I did a lousy job of blocking stuff in otherwise, I am almost fininshed the whole back section. Today, I will start working on the main tower.
I am still on schedule . . . barely :surprised
I’ve been perched over the forum, waiting for you to post so I could strike with vicious commentry!
And I’m not dissapointed! Amazing! Although I’m a little concerned you’re putting in so much detail at such an early stage. I’m not complaining though.
Exceptional. I love it.
:bounce:
One of the benifits of a having a thorough plan is, you don’t have to beat around the bush slowly building things up and figuring things out. I can immidiatly jump into the details:p
LMAO!!! That is friggin awesome. Are you modeling all of that scroll-work into the panels? Or is that a bump-map? It looks modeled to me, but I can’t be certian.
Either way Apt, that is kicking major a$$!
So far so phenominal! Great stuff ![]()
WOW Apt!!! You’re the most constant WOW guy that i know!!!
Please delect us with some detail render!!!
I love the thin weist you did to the ship, it give to it some legerté against the bulkys front and back parts. Good job!!
But now that i see the sail, i’m not very convinced with it.
Otherwise.
Keep :wip: :wip: :wip:

im just sitting in class browsing the latest updates of work and i seen yours and had to write. your modelling is really comming along amazingly!!keep it up, i really think your project is a strong piece!
That is astounding man, really impressive, not only are your designs and drawings incredibly detailed and precise, at this point it looks as if your models will be as well. not sure if anyone’s asked, but what software are you using? And out of curiosity, what’s your modeling technique. If you modeled all of that out of a box… well, I am seriously impressed, otherwise I’m just very impressed. :buttrock:
Merlin
amazing concept work, and exceptional execution. i love your style, and the amount of detail is stunning! i’m excited to see the finished piece.
Hey, thanks guys, I just woke up. My days start at 2 p.m and end at 9 in the morning
But I put together just a little pic showing you so far, how I created this. For the most part, I box model everything. Maybe 2 % of the time, I use splines (like for the A insignia). I use 3ds max r4 with no additional plugins except for the brazil rendering system. As for bump maps, I used a little this time around. If you look carefully (sorry about the quick render and small size) you will see a small variant between the initial straight version with no bump maps and then the folded one with the bump maps turned on.
But I really appriciate the continual support. “I won’t dissapoint” (< — Note, I usually say this to add a ton of pressure to myself. I use any source of inspirtation to kick my ass in gear:p It’s the best way to push yourself heeheheheh sob)
I will have another update tomorrow morning if not sooner, thanks again

The detail is amazing, especially for minimal bump mapping.
I’ve always been a bit critical of max’s lofting, but maybe I should give it a second look if this is the sort of result that can turn out from it!
You’re still stunning me. I hope you realise you’ve picked up a fan!
I lost my wednesday to something important, hence I am trying to recover and get back on schedule, but . . . I am not sure this is going to be possible. We shall see.
Anyways, here is just a small (and extremely quick) render of what I have so far. I actually had to rig a character for the pillars. I am more or less finished the bottom of the chuch, now I have to finish the top and back for the end of today (my days end at 9 in the morning saturday :p)
Well, until then,
and thanks for the compliments.
:wip: :wip: :wip:
arghhh i love your architecture sketches …
I hope you could finished this master piece.
Is it possible for u to post renders with antialias?
i’m sure your render times are heavy but i’m sure to find more details with
Great great!
keep it up
jeez, do you ever have time sleep!, that is some really detailed work your doin. i really like what youve done and i love these updates!
This is my first exposure to your work and all I have to say for the moment is WOW like everybody else. Great drawings and great 3D work as well so far.
Hopefully some 3D artists out there, that can’t draw, will get inspired by your talents and decide to set the mouse aside once in a while, and pick up a pencil. Hope to see more.:bounce:
