Okay, Ill try and finish this one:bounce:

Im not going to be hugly original here, Im thinking of a cat except useful. Hoves like an elephant or rhino (Good for trveling through sand and dust) and body, well developed from years of towing stuffs. Possibly even more bulked out like a bull. Also itll have a head…still a bit grey on this, I know what I want but I cant get it down on paper right.

Anyway heres some early sketches I’ve done last night…nothing great, just something to give my post some substance.

Thanks espaki. So just for you heres a little 3d:surprised Just a little. Im so swamped at work right now, but heres what Ive got out in my first hour…not much but Im going slow a steady with this fella. I want to get a few more sketches up first…Well see…time will tell.

Well maybe not…Im crusing along…no hurry aye…Heres a little more detailed update. Chest, shoulders and front legs are done. Now for the hips, hind legs and tail.

Please ppl I need some crits or something…anything.???

Ryu, I use Clay. Its still in private beta but may be out for public use later in the year. Basicly its a standalone Sub-Div package. Incredibly stable and stupidly fast. I can work in real time (only on an AMD 1000mhz machine) with a model like this which has a subdiv equlivent to maxs meshsmooth at 3 iterations. No to bad aye;)

Anyway since its only a modeler its has a basic .rib exporter and Im using BMRT to render.

Things I know:
Too cute…Partly due to the big feet,
Feet are around the wrong way…little toe on inside,
He has no head,
He in fact a She.

Things To do:
Give her a head,
Shrink feet,
Add Veins,
Reduce Muscles,
Add visual bone shapes,
Wrinkles.?
mess up the model a bit…too clean,
Go home,
Build Harness,
More muscle/bone definition/shape in the feet,
Get some sleep.

yea amn this is lokin great i love the muscle tone in the upper leg, i think you wrote your own crit though. the feet are really blocky right now, they need form. the flesh hanging in the middle of his body should be all wrinkly like a rooster. so far this is the shiznit though keep up the good work

nice points rizob. you can reall see that the flappy skin was just tacked on in the end in this next image.

love those bulgy squishy muskles. little tight in places? (creases between muskles) Maybe the front legs are a little to big? Maybe not. Real sense of mass, and weight.

I dig it too, only crit I have in this early stage agrees with lOrd: the muscles seem as if they should be a bit rounder. angles and creases seem a little unnatural.

on the shiznit note: I’m not sure how the phrase came around, but it means “your work is the shit” which somehow came around to meaning “good work!”, take it as a compliment.

That’s looking really cool…I still have to look into that modeler when it’s out public.

Like said, I think you already made all the crits yourself :slight_smile: Exaggerated proportions could be cool stylistically though, but that would be a different turn from the sketch. Really dig the definition you’ve got going so far. :thumbsup:

P.S. shiznit is good, so is being ‘the bizomb’. It’s new twists on something be ‘the shit’ or ‘the bomb’ (which were also good). Them crazy kids today. :smiley:

Thanks Guys. Yea Ive got alot of work to do on the loosening onf the muscles. Unfortunatly “Clay” hasnt got Softselection on the Tighten feature yet whould meake this eaier:p

OKay IM going home now…honest…Im going to have to work hard on this as there is alot of other shiznit models out there and I think im going to have to be the bizombist around to stand a chance:surprised Im 22 years old and already feel like the old guy out of touuch with the youth:cool:

Great work Chico! I can’t wait till clay goes public, it seems like a great tool.

Crits: Maybe you could make the top of the legs larger and bulkier so the legs will be in proportion and less cute. I would still scale down the front feet a bit though. I dont picture this as a big beast so bulking up the legs would give her that short but sturdy feel. :shrug:

Chad: youre absolutly right. AT the moment she looks quite large and tall, which is cool, but I was more thinking something closer to the ground, like a rhino, or hippo…More Research I belive:)
If I bulk out the shoulders, and the legs, and brought the feet in lenghthways then I might be on the right track. ALso add more detail to the feet too.

Thanks, yea down here in New Zealand we only get the slang once some celebrity starts using it on the lastest movie :stuck_out_tongue:

Clay has a .rib exporter that fires up BMRT. But my skills in BMRT are nothing…so I just used the default (fist couple of B&W images) but the last image I just quickly did in max so you guys could get a better idea of what you were looking at.

Reguarding the interface of clay…well the true gem is the fact that it doesnt have one…really…theres no right click menu so thats freed up for other tools, and there no buttons you need to push to do anything. Most commands can be done on a three button moue with the help of Alt Shift and Ctrl…and everything else is really acessable too. The idea is that you should be able to do all things at any time…I think:)

Wow chico man, I just realized I haven’t replied to your thread. I’m sorry about that, I thought I had.

OK I’m going to start from the sketches and work my way down so I’ll pro’lly be repeating some things.
I picture your beast with a longer neck than it has in the sketches. Not much longer, just a bit…maybe like a horse’s neck length.
I LOVE the camel-style toes. i like the back feet more than the front, but that’s pro’lly because they look a bit more like a normal camel’s feet.
The muscle tone in the legs and chest are fantastic.
For the droopy skin I would suggest you try making it like this: Try starting it a little higher up the neck than where it is now. maybe just below the “adam’s apple”. Then have it split and run to the outside front of the “armpits” of the front legs. Pick it back up behind the front legs from the rear-most portion of the pit, and have it stretch back along the flanks and have it finally merge completely back into the body just about an inch from the rear legs.

Just my 2 cents. Sorry again for not replying sooner.
